Position Summary:
The Senior Product Designer will play a crucial role in shaping the user experience and visual design of our products. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, engineering, and marketing, to create intuitive and engaging designs that meet user needs and business goals. The Senior Product Designer will also mentor junior designers and contribute to the overall design strategy of the organization.
Responsibilities:
Design and Prototyping: Create high-fidelity prototypes and design specifications by collaborating with business and IT partners.
Collaboration: Work closely with other designers and developers to execute designs and ensure consistency across products.
User Research: Conduct user research to gather insights and inform design decisions.
Workshops and Sessions: Participate in and lead design sessions and workshops with business partners to gather requirements and feedback.
Mentorship: Mentor and support junior designers within the team.
Innovation: Provide forward-thinking solutions to design challenges and contribute to the continuous improvement of design processes.
Required/Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Information Technology or Other Related Degree
In addition to required degree, four (4) or more years related work experience
In lieu of Bachelor’s degree(s) AND four (4) or more years related work experience listed above, High School/GED AND eight (8) or more years related work experience
Desired Qualifications
Experience collaborating with IT architects and engineering teams to design scalable, user-centric solutions
Strong proficiency in Figma, with the ability to build, document and maintain design system components
Experience in UX copywriting, ensuring content is clear, concise, and enhances user understanding
Deep understanding of accessibility best practices (WCAG guidelines), by designing inclusive digital experiences
Ability to advocate for user needs while balancing business and technical constraints.
Additional Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Agile and waterfall software development methodologies.
Familiarity with content management/publishing/engagement tools such as Sitecore, Adobe Experience Manager, SharePoint, Sprinklr.
Experience with analytics programs and reporting.
Excellent ability to collaborate effectively and communicate with influence in large cross-functional project teams and across the enterprise.
Experience establishing design, style, content, or other governance guides and playbooks.
Industry recognition with demonstrated speaking engagements or awards.
Advanced degree.
Agile/Scrum certification.
Working Conditions
Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.
Specific Requirements
Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe XD, or Sketch. Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
Minimum of 4 years of related experience in product design.
