The Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery is seeking to hire a full time Staff Research Associate who will work under the direction of the Principal Investigator to perform scientific work in a biomedical laboratory. in this role you will optimize and perform standard histological procedure on experimental specimens. Work with tissues is required.Duties will include but are not limited to:
- developing, performing and troubleshooting immunohistochemical assays.
- perform confocal microscopy imaging of processed specimens.
- conducting quantitative image analysis.
- completing statistical analyses.
- effective communication with team members & at lab meetings.
- ordering supplies and basic laboratory upkeep.
Job Qualifications

Required:
- Experience working in cell biology and immunohistochemistry procedures.
- Demonstrated ability to conduct defined research protocol independently, with excellent troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to work well in a team including faculty, postdoctoral fellows, medical residents, undergrad students and other lab personnel.
- Demonstrated excellent written and oral communication skills
- Demonstrated proficiency in statistical analyses using R computing environment.
- Demonstrated proficiency in data organization and presentation software including Excel and PowerPoint.
- Ability to manipulate small specimens for histologic analyses, including cryostat.
- Previous experience writing scientific publications.
- BS or MS degree in neuroscience or physiology
