Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining and controlling the General Ledger accounts and business transactions of the organization, applying the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, including analytical work and thorough review of financial records.
Work Performed:
- Assist with the day to day, monthly and year-end operations of accounting.
- Perform the processing of monthly accruals, amortization of prepaid expenses, fixed asset depreciation, and recording of adjusting and reclassification journal entries, if necessary.
- Perform general account analysis and reconciliations, including bank statements, fixed assets, accruals, and prepaid expenses.
- Provide various daily, weekly, or monthly reports to management as needed.
- Record daily cash activity and prepare bank reconciliations.
- Assist with the annual parts inventory count, as well as reconcile if any differences.
- Compiling and reporting monthly financial statements to upper management.
- Preventing inaccuracies in financial statements by setting up internal control systems and adopting proper policies for financial reporting.
- Assist the Payroll Administrator with payroll related items.
- Assisting in special projects whenever asked.
- Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required by the Controller or Assistant Controller.
- Assist with accounts payable record keeping, filing, and input as needed.
Education/Training:
- A Bachelor degree in Accounting, or a Bachelor degree in business with emphasis in accounting, is required.
- 2+ years of financial statement compilation and general accounting experience in a business environment is preferred.
Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of clerical accounting and bookkeeping procedures as applied to verifying and posting financial data
- Knowledge of standard office procedures and practices
- Strong mathematical skills
- Good data entry skills
- Ability to operate basic office equipment
- Ability to understand and follow instructions
- Strong knowledge of accounting theory
- Good communication skills
- Highly detail oriented
- Competence in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
- A solid understanding of inventory
- Knowledge of Business Accounting Reports
- Able to work independently or in a team environment
- Good customer service skills
- Able to work time as needed for success of the business

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

This job operates in a physical office environment and is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands, arms and fingers to effectively operate computer equipment and handle and/or lift objects up to 20 pounds.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This position will adhere to an operations shift schedule that is required for optimal operations effectiveness and productivity. The position may require individuals to work afternoon or night shifts that will require an ability to remain alert and awake during evening and night hours.
This position will be in-office with a 40 hour work week required and occasional overtime as needed.
