Johnson Controls’ Wichita operation designs, builds and distributes around one million pieces of residential heating and cooling equipment every year. Johnson Controls Wichita builds and assembles some of the biggest HVAC brands in the industry, including York, Luxaire, Coleman, Champion and Guardian.
The primary manufacturing campus sits on 63 acres with a total of 1.3 million square feet. It has also translated into large employment growth in Wichita, where its workforce is around 950 employees. The Wichita manufacturing facility is the largest non-aircraft manufacturing plant in Wichita.

What you will do
The Inventory Control Manager will oversee the internal inventory flow, manage cycle counting and improve the systematic control of line replenishment. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Inventory Management within industries such as automotive, aviation or other manufacturing environments. Proficiency in SAP is essential and the successful candidate will have experience streamlining inventory processes to ensure optimal stock levels, reduce waste and maintain accurate inventory records.
How you will do it
Manage the internal inventory flow from receiving through production and shipment, ensuring timely and accurate material availability.
Develop, implement and oversee the cycle counting process to maintain inventory accuracy and integrity.
Identify and lead improvements in the systematic control of inventory processes ensuring efficient and effective replenishment strategies.
Monitor and analyze inventory metrics to prevent overstocking, stockouts and discrepancies.
Collaborate closely with production, procurement and logistics teams to ensure seamless inventory operations.
Implement and manage inventory tracking systems, particularly SAP, to ensure precise stock management and reporting.
Lead root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies developing corrective actions and preventive measures.
Ensure compliance with all safety, regulatory and company standards related to inventory management.
Train and mentor staff in best practices for inventory control and use of systems like SAP.
Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, turnover rates and other key performance indicators (KPIs).
What we look for
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration or a related field.
Minimum of six (6) years of experience working as an Inventory Control Supervisor or an Inventory Control Manager.
Proven expertise managing inventory flow, cycle counting and process improvements.
Strong proficiency using SAP and other inventory management systems.
Analytical mindset with a focus on data-driven decision-making.
Excellent problem-solving, organizational and leadership skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across departments and communicate effectively at all levels.
Experience in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar methodologies is a plus.
Preferred:
Previous experience in automotive, aviation or related industries.
Experience in materials planning, scheduling and inventory optimization techniques.
Familiarity with regulatory and safety standards in manufacturing environments.
