Director Customer Development - Regional West Team

The Director Customer Development- Regional west is accountable for overseeing the customer and business development of Tyson Foods, Inc. portfolio in the West Coast geographic market. Key responsibilities include leading a team of Customer Development Managers (CDMs) to achieve sales volume and financial objectives, cultivating strong customer relationships, developing team members, and aligning with Business Units to execute initiatives. Effective communication, both internally and externally, regarding Tyson Foods' business with customers is crucial.

This is a remote role that requires the candidate to be based in Southern California, with convenient access to a major airport.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reviewing team forecasts and managing attainment of Annual Operating Plan (AOP) goals and trade budgets for assigned categories
• Ensuring tactical adherence to Category Business Plans and trade spending strategies across all channels
• Providing input for the development of Annual Growth Plans across Business Units and Categories while driving category growth with retail partners
• Monitoring key performance indicators and 4Ps objectives
• Collaborating with CDMs and Team Performance Managers to optimize trade spending tactics
• Maximizing trade program effectiveness and efficiency while monitoring spending
• Establishing relationships with Sales Operations to enhance category trade management and meeting distribution targets
• Leading the Customer Annual planning process by Category in collaboration with TPM and sales operations team
• Modeling behaviors that align with the Tyson Foods Culture – RIGHT Behaviors
• Cultivating productive working relationships with key external and internal stakeholders
• Providing effective leadership and management of direct reports

Other duties include:

• Meeting distribution targets

• Developing promotional strategies for efficient trade spending
• Collaborating with the Customer Development Insights Team to align business development with consumer behavior
• Leveraging category, consumer, and marketplace insights for effective internal and external communications

​REQUIREMENTS:

Experience:10+ years of sales leadership experience with at least 5 years specifically in North American packaged goods categories.

Education: Bachelor's degree required. An additional 5 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor's degree.

Special Skills: Strong financial acumen including in-depth financial analysis and resulting impact to business; Intermediate-level analytical ability using proprietary and syndicated data sources.

Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Computer Skills: Advanced computer skills; including creating and generating spreadsheets presentations and reporting.

Supervisory: Managing CDMs; required to work with internal teams such as Sales Planning Category Development Sales Operations Customer Service Returns and Allowances Logistics Financial.

Travel: 12+ trips per year.
