The Senior Director is a strategic leader responsible for overseeing all revenue cycle business operations for an assigned region within The US Oncology Network (USON). This includes leadership of a Regional Business Office (RBO) that supports multiple practices across a multi-state, multi-site environment. The role drives operational excellence in billing, cash collections, accounts receivable management, bad-debt reduction, and cash application, while navigating a complex, multi-level leadership structure. Additionally, this leader provides consultative support to practices transitioning to the RBO model, ensuring alignment with Network standards and measurable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Performance Improvement & Operational Leadership

  • Develop and execute regional initiatives to improve critical revenue cycle metrics, including timely and accurate billing, high-volume cash collections, AR reduction, bad-debt mitigation, and cash application.
  • Ensure compliance with standardized policies, procedures, and work instructions aligned with legal, regulatory, and Network requirements.
  • Monitor financial, operational, and quality indicators; identify and close performance gaps.
  • Partner with practice operations, RBO teams, and physician leadership to resolve revenue cycle challenges.
  • Provide leadership to RBO teams and serve as interim practice revenue cycle leader when needed.
  • Participate in Joint Policy Board discussions and influence practice leadership to align with Network RCM strategy.
  • Identify workflow gaps and support practice management system implementations; act as a change agent across practices and RBO teams.

Budget & Financial Accountability

  • Set objectives and budgets for RBO leaders (directors, account managers, analytics/training teams).
  • Own regional budget and P&L; manage Cost to Collect for practices.

People Leadership

  • Mentor and develop first- and second-line managers; conduct performance reviews using multi-source feedback.
  • Lead hiring, coaching, and team development to ensure optimal staffing and productivity.
  • Drive employee engagement and maintain above-network average engagement scores.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 13+ years of professional experience, including 6+ years in diversified leadership roles with strong planning, communication, and organizational skills.

Must-Have Qualifications

  • 5+ years of revenue cycle operations experience in healthcare.
  • 5–10 years of overall operations leadership experience.
  • 2–5 years of direct P&L accountability.
  • 2+ years managing leaders (managers/supervisors).
  • Proficiency with practice management and clinical systems; ability to define data requirements and interpret dashboards.
  • Exceptional communication skills across all levels, including physicians, Network leadership, and front-line teams.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
  • Lean/Six Sigma certification (Green/Black Belt) with experience deploying process improvement tools.
  • Experience leading multi-state, multi-site revenue cycle operations in oncology or specialty care.
  • Strong writing and presentation skills for executive briefings and physician forums.

Working Conditions

  • Travel up to 20% within assigned region (and occasionally across Network sites).
