The Illinois Department of Early Childhood is seeking to hire a Classifications Specialist to join the Human Resources team responsible for building the structures and hiring processes at a new State Agency. This important role will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and maintaining position descriptions and classification processes to ensure compliance, consistency, and equity. The role evaluates requests for new or revised positions, conducts job analyses, and manages and maintains the agency organizational charts. Working closely with HR partners and agency leadership, the Specialist ensures classification and compensation decisions align with applicable rules, collective bargaining agreements, and IDEC’s strategic workforce goals. Essential Functions

• Serves as the Classifications Specialist within the Illinois Department of Early Childhood (IDEC).
• Supports Hiring and Recruitment functions of IDEC.
• Serves as the designated lead worker to lower-level staff.
• Monitors, evaluates, manages, reviews, approves/disapproves, and verifies IDEC personnel-related transactions.
• Prepares confidential written reports, statistical spreadsheets, and other correspondence involving staffing plans and employee candidate information in order to manage the development, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive continuous quality improvement activities of Human Resources and Classifications workflows.
• Conducts special projects, initiatives, and related research studies regarding classification transactions.
• Performs other duties as required or assigned, which are reasonable within the scope of duties enumerated above.
