TRAVEL: As required to fulfill the responsibilities of the position


ASRT, Inc. provides scientific, information management, management consulting, bioinformatics, and administrative program support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and other Federal and private sector clients. The successful candidate will be a full-time employee of ASRT, Inc. and will be assigned to the Division of Core Laboratory Services and Response (DCLSR), CDC Biorepository (CBR), in Lawrenceville, GA.


SCOPE OF WORK

The Cryogenics Systems Lead will oversee the Cryogenic System Technician team, ensuring the effective monitoring, maintenance, and operation of all cryogenic systems. This includes bulk tanks, LN2 sample storage units, low/ultra-low freezers, and associated systems such as temperature alarm systems, oxygen monitoring systems, and freezer emergency response protocols. The Lead will ensure that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently while providing technical guidance and support to the team.


MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Team Leadership and Supervision

  • Supervise and manage the Cryogenic System Technician team, overseeing daily activities and ensuring compliance with safety             standards.
  • Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and training to team members to enhance their skills and performance.
  • Schedule, prioritize, and oversee the completion of all maintenance and monitoring tasks related to cryogenic systems.

Cryogenic System Monitoring and Maintenance

  • Oversee the monitoring and maintenance of cryogenic systems, including bulk tanks, LN2 sample storage units, and low/ultra-low freezers.
  • Ensure that the temperature alarm systems are maintained and functioning properly to protect critical storage environments.
  • Support and oversee the maintenance of associated systems such as oxygen monitoring systems and freezer emergency response procedures.

System Operations and Compliance

  • Ensure all cryogenic systems operate within designated safety and performance parameters.
  • Conduct regular inspections and audits of cryogenic equipment and systems to ensure compliance with industry standards and company protocols.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with cryogenic systems promptly to minimize downtime and ensure system reliability.

 Project and Operations Management

  • Lead projects related to the installation, upgrading, and repair of cryogenic systems.
  • Collaborate with engineering, R&D, and other relevant teams to improve cryogenic processes and systems.
  • Ensure that cryogenic biorepository operations are managed effectively, adhering to best practices and regulatory requirements.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of all cryogenic system operations, maintenance activities, and safety inspections.
  • Prepare detailed reports on system performance, team activities, and project progress for review by senior management.
  • Present recommendations for system improvements and ensure all necessary documentation is up-to-date and compliant with regulatory standards.

Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS


Education and Experience:

  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in cryogenic systems or biorepository operations, with a strong      background in cryogenic system monitoring and maintenance.
  • Experience in managing cryogenic biorepository operations is highly preferred.

Required:

  • Extensive knowledge of cryogenic systems, including bulk tanks, LN2 sample storage units, and low/ultra-low freezers.
  • Proven experience in supervising and leading technical teams, with a focus on cryogenic systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Proficiency in maintaining and operating temperature alarm systems and oxygen monitoring systems.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and best practices related to cryogenic operations.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Desirable:

  • Certifications in cryogenics or related fields.
  • Experience in managing large-scale cryogenic biorepository operations.
  • Knowledge of advanced cryogenic technologies
