Director of Product Innovation
GrünsAbout the role
We're so happy you're here! Thank you for checking our job out and we hope to have the chance to meet you in our interview process!
About the role
We’re looking for a Director of Product Innovation to lead the future of new product development at Grüns, reporting directly to our Head of Product. You’ll be the strategic force behind new category exploration, product launches, and process optimization — ensuring that Grüns remains at the forefront of innovation in health and wellness.
This role is ideal for someone who combines strategic creativity with operational excellence — a builder who loves taking ideas from whiteboard to shelf. You’ll concept new product ideas in emerging categories, partner with R&D on formulation iterations, collaborate closely with marketing on positioning and go-to-market plans, and work with co-manufacturers to bring innovations to life. Experience working at the intersection of product and marketing is highly preferred.
This role is part of our remote HQ! We operate in a fully remote, high-trust environment and come together quarterly for off-sites to connect in person.
In this role, you will:
- Lead new product launches: Own strategy and execution for new products — from concepting and positioning through packaging, commercialization, and cross-functional coordination.
- Concept new category innovations: Identify and validate opportunities in emerging categories and ingredient trends, building early product concepts that align with consumer trends and brand vision.
- Research new categories: Continuously explore new product and consumer opportunities, identifying at least 15 new ideas per year backed by market data and trend analysis.
- Own new product packaging: Work with brand and design teams to create new product packaging from scratch, managing manuscript, design, and proofing process.
- Collaborate closely with marketing: Partner with marketing to define positioning, storytelling, and launch strategy that connect innovation to brand growth.
- Optimize product launch processes: Streamline and document workflows across R&D, GTM, and Ops to enable faster launches
- Manage co-man partnerships: Collaborate with co-manufacturers and R&D team for new products, ensuring pilots and commercialization phases stay on schedule and meet Grüns’ quality standards.
- Drive cross-functional alignment: Partner with science, brand, operations, retail, and marketing to ensure launch readiness, tight communication, and flawless execution.
We're looking for someone who:
- 10+ years of progressive, cross-functional experience — including 5+ years leading new product development in the CPG space, ideally food, supplements, or adjacent categories.
- Proven success launching and scaling new products from concept through commercialization, with a strong track record of innovation and execution.
- Experience concepting and validating new product ideas in emerging or adjacent categories.
- Background working directly with co-manufacturers, suppliers, and external vendors.
- Deep understanding of project management in fast-moving, cross-functional environments.
- Hands-on experience with packaging development, product testing, and GTM alignment.
- Experience collaborating closely with marketing teams on positioning and go-to-market strategy.
- Strong project management experience and attention to detail.
- A foundation in marketing or brand strategy is a nice-to-have.
Approach to the role:
- Innovative thinker – always scanning the market for what’s next.
- Builder and do-er – takes initiative and sees projects through to launch.
- Process-minded – loves creating structure and documentation that scale.
- Cross-functional collaborator – builds trust and momentum across teams.
- Detail-oriented operator – ensures launches run flawlessly.
- Strategic communicator – influences with clarity and data.
