The Senior Director, Union and Programs leads the operations of the Charger Union and Conference Training Center while overseeing student programming initiatives. This role combines facilities management—including budgets and long-term planning—with leadership of student life programming to enhance campus experience. Working closely with the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs, this position supervises facility staff and student life teams while collaborating with campus partners to drive strategic vision and deliver exceptional service to the university community.
Duties/Responsibilities
• Responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Charger Union, the Conference Training Center, and the Events Services area.
• Works closely with the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs on long-term strategic development, growth processes, community services outreach, and capital improvement projects within all areas of the two facilities.
• Works with the Assistant Vice President for Student Affairs to provide long-term strategic departmental planning and potential growth and development of the Charger Union and Conference Training Center services.
• In Collaboration with the Assistant Director, serves as the liaison to multiple campus departments for the enhancement of the two facilities and the services offered to best serve the campus and community.
• Works closely with the Office of the President, Campus Events department, and the off-campus community to produce content and events that are consistent with the University mission.
• Strategizes and present long-range plans for the Charger Union and the Conference Training Center.
• Evaluates current processes/procedures for the two facilities’ departments and adjusts as needed.
• Provides day-to-day leadership and supervision for an Assistant Director, an Event Manager, an Event Coordinator, and all associated student labor in the Charger Union and Conference Training Center.
• Supports and provides assistance to other facility occupants in the Charger Union and the Conference Training Center, e.g. Dining Services, Bookstore, Dean of Students Office, Student Life, and the Charger Card Office.
Works closely with the University Physical Plant on long-range planning projects and facility development and renovations of the two facilities.
• Helps with student development, parent relations, and the promotion of positive customer service to all users of the two facilities.
• Assists in the management of departmental operating and capital improvements budgets.
• Provides day-to-day leadership and supervision for the Director of Student Life.
• Work closely with AVP in the management of departmental operating budgets.
• Ensures that quality services and programs are provided to the university community.
• Develops and implements a comprehensive vision for student life, that aligns with the university’s strategic plan.
• Collaborates with campus partners in order to support student success.
• Ensures adherence to all relevant policies and regulations.
• Regularly evaluates the effectiveness of the student life programming and identify are for improvement.
• Supervise and manage performance of staff.
• Master's Degree, 7-10 years of full- time, verifiable professional experience, or an equivalent combination of education and years of experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
• Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Knowledge of Accounting and Budgeting
• Experience in large-scale University event planning and promotion.
• Experience with student organization oversight.
• Experience with Banner, Engage, Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and Astra.
