The Opportunity:
With a vision to be the leading asset advisory and capital programs professional services provider operating across real estate, infrastructure and natural resources, the USA is a high-growth market for Turner & Townsend. Critical to achieving this milestone is a multi-disciplinary marketing and business development function that strengthens the Turner & Townsend brand and supports our client-facing professionals in capturing new opportunities and growing existing business. The Proposal Writer is an integral contributor to this team, managing and developing proposals and interview presentations across sectors and markets in the East USA, spanning from Boston to Houston.
The Proposal Writer, East USA will lead the development and management of winning proposals, impactful interview presentations, and other proposal collateral to win work and expand Turner & Townsend’s market share across the East USA. This role requires a strong blend of exceptional writing and project management skills, the ability to effectively collaborate with technical teams, experience in training and preparing staff for pitch interviews, and a creative eye for developing visually compelling proposal layouts and graphics. This person will nurture highly collaborative internal relationships with segment/service line professionals and SMEs to drive an integrated approach.
Specific responsibilities associated with the Proposal Writer, East USA role include:
Proposal and project management:
- Lead and project manage the full lifecycle of proposal and bid development, from initial planning to final submission, ensuring adherence to deadlines and requirements.
- Drive Turner & Townsend’s 'Bid to Win' process, supporting the strategy, development, and production of customized proposals, bids, RFQP/RFI responses, and other client deliverables.
- Effectively coordinate and collaborate with Directors, subject matter experts (SMEs), and client-facing professionals to gather necessary technical content and ensure their timely contributions to proposals.
- Compile, vet, and synthesize existing materials and draft original, persuasive content for proposals and client materials, highlighting key differentiators and demonstrating value and expertise.
- Conceptualize and create visually appealing and informative graphics that effectively communicate complex information and enhance the overall impact of proposals.
- Manage deliverable timelines, proactively communicate progress and potential challenges to the internal team and ensure compliance with all client and internal requirements.
- Partner with Client Relationship Leads to leverage client intel in the development of targeted proposal content is highly relevant.
Bid presentations and other content development:
- Train and coach technical staff on effective presentation delivery techniques for bid presentations and client meetings, including content flow, visual aid utilization, and audience engagement strategies.
- Prepare technical staff for client interviews related to submitted bids/proposals, including developing talking points, anticipating questions, and conducting practice sessions.
- Lead the development of a wide range of proposal collateral, including case studies, capability documents, service descriptions, team CVs/resumes, etc. while adhering to corporate design and branding standards and visually consistent presentation.
- Collaborate with the regional Knowledge Manager to contribute best-in-class and visually enhanced materials and content to internal content repositories (CMS).
