Hybrid and flexible, established around class schedule. Must be able to work at least 8-12 hours during office hours Monday-Friday, 8 a.m.–5 p.m. Must be able to work in the office at least one day a week. Some evening and weekend hours may be required for projects such as special events, photo shoots, table hosting, etc.Salary/Wage Range/Lump Sum:

Required Qualifications:• Pursuing a degree in business, marketing, communication arts, English, journalism, public relations, or a similar field
• Demonstrated skill editing short-form video using programs such as CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, or similar tools
• Demonstrated skill creating visual assets using Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or Adobe Express
• Strong organizational skills with a proven track record of meeting strict deadlines and managing multiple projects simultaneously
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a collaborative team setting
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience creating, maintaining, and adhering to a content calendar
• Experience with project management tools (e.g., Asana), social media scheduling software (e.g., Metricool), and digital asset management software (e.g., Brandfolder)
• Comfortable, energetic, and natural when interviewing peers, hosting video segments, or approaching students for street-style interview content
• Creative mindset with experience brainstorming and executing successful engagement campaigns tailored to students
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• An understanding of current social trends, platform algorithms, popular audio, and how to tailor content for specific target audiences
• Ability to write clear, engaging, and brand-aligned copy tailored for social media, email newsletters, and the web
• Excellent communication skills with an outgoing, adaptable, and professional demeanor
• High energy and drive to execute tasks independently under general direction, test unconventional ideas, and bring fresh perspectives to the team
• Commitment to high quality, accuracy, and brand consistency across all public-facing deliverables.
• Great sense of humor is always a plus!
Position Summary/Job Duties:
Are you obsessed with digital storytelling, ahead of social media trends, and comfortable both behind and in front of the camera? Do you want to be a social media influencer on campus?
UW–Madison Student Affairs is seeking a creative and self-motivated Digital Content Creator to elevate our digital presence and highlight the student experience.
In this role, you will brainstorm campaigns, host casual on-camera interviews, produce high-performing Reels, and analyze social metrics. You will work closely with our Communications and Advancement team to gain real-world marketing experience, published work for your portfolio, and measurable analytics for your resume.
Duties include:
• Collaborate with the communications team and interns to brainstorm, script, film, and edit short-form video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok-style videos) and graphics that appeal to a diverse student body
• Conduct casual interviews with students, cover campus events, and recruit student participants for video projects
• Contribute to the editorial calendar, pitch fresh content ideas, and publish posts
• Monitor platform metrics and gather performance reports to inform digital strategy and optimize future content
• Write copy for social media and website; assist with blog posts and email campaigns as needed
• Organize Student Affairs multimedia assets using digital asset management tools
• Assist with administrative tasks, photo shoots, and hosting tables at campus events as assigned
