What you’ll do
Within the production environment, you will contribute to the manufacturing and testing of prototypes featuring the pioneering Scout design and functionalities. Additionally, you will play a decisive role in transferring the lessons learned to the later pre-series and series production line. In your role you will report to the Senior Director Test & Special Vehicle Build.
Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:
- Technical and disciplinary leadership of a team in the prototype area
- Ramp up, leading, and steering of Electronic and Software for the inhouse Test & Special Vehicle Build through entrepreneurial action and target agreements with Senior Director Test & Special Vehicle Build
- Directly responsible for 3rd party contracts for engineering, technical services, and construction of build and test equipment
- Secure concept for early training and formation of SCOUT production personnel as preparation for tasks in series production
- Coordinate electrical/electronic commissioning of prototype vehicles
- Ensure recording and documentation of test results, recording of errors, problem-solving with R&D, quality assurance, and suppliers
- Safeguard hardware and software compatibility for all components and control units prior to installation in the test vehicles
- Lead the verification of the process steps and sequences for subsequent series commissioning process
- Verification of the software status of prototype vehicles according to the specifications of the specifications of the assigned hardware and software release packages
- Guide the organization of the build preparation of the prototype vehicles and control of the software updates for parts and vehicles
- Safeguard the definition of the interface between R&D and Production/Logistics
- Secure recording of errors related to functions and commissioning
- Ensure support of the analysis, reporting, and problem-solving of electronic malfunctions and derivation of technical solutions
- Carrying out test setups to ensure the function of hardware and software bundles (e-simulator, “golden” vehicles)
- Collaboration with local training centers and technical institutions (planned)
Location & Travel Expectations: The responsibilities of this role require attendance at in-person meetings and events daily. This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Columbia, SC. Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time. You may be required to be in the Novi, MI area frequently.

- Bachelor's/Master's degree in mechanical, electrical engineering, or related fields
- 7+ years of professional experience in automotive production and manufacturing/prototype production environment
- 5+ years of progressive experience in building and managing teams
- Strong understanding of production enviro
