Responsibilities
The Active Perception Group Leader is a technology development lead that will provide leadership and vision to a team of 8 to 15 very talented researchers and engineers with a breadth of specialties in machine vision, sensor fusion, software and hardware design and implementation, UxV prototyping, and cutting development of Active Perception technologies from neuromorphics to scene analysis. The position requires the ability to lead teams and mentor staff as the focal point of team development and direct technology development across group. The focus of the Active Perception group moving forward is in multi-modal scene analysis using sensor fusion and context to extrapolate information for autonomous platform decision making. The group leader will need to be able to develop and lead proposal efforts for DARPA and other DoD agencies with SSCI support staff, and occasionally PI or PM larger programs critical to group growth as necessary. The position is also the interface to other teams and divisions within the company to support collaboration and transition of technology into the products team. The position has a great deal of flexibility and freedom for motivated technologist to forge a path forward for cutting edge autonomous system technologies.
Requirements
Required Skills
- PhD in a Perception related field, either in hardware or software or systems.
- > 7 years experience in DoD related autonomy or perception workExperience with scene analysis and or scene understanding
- Demonstrated capability in proposal writing for large efforts (> $1.5 million) Experience running DARPA or Other DoD programs (> $1.5 million/ per year)
- Experience running teams of researchers and engineers (> 5-8 team members)
- Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal) required
Preferred Skills
- SBIR/STTR experience is a plus
- Strong machine vision, neuromorphics, or sensor fusion background a plus
- Strong software skills and familiarity with ROS, C++, RTK, Python a plus
- Background with UxV systems, particularly UAVs, is a plus
