General Summary:

This position will report to the AVP, Health & Wellbeing to implement and manage Unum Group’s health and wellbeing programs. This role will ensure that programs in our healthcare ecosystem (virtual health, COEs, wellbeing programs, etc.) are competitive, compliant, cost effective and drive a best-in-class employee experience while aligning with Unum’s overall Total Rewards strategy. This position will leverage a deep understanding of industry best practice, emerging innovations and effective preventive and wellbeing strategies to actively manage our portfolio in driving the health and wellbeing of our employees. It is also responsible for developing and maintaining timely management reporting on trends, ROI on programs, etc., and maintaining a close working relationship with P&C partners.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage our health and wellbeing programs that operate in connection with our medical plans to ensure an innovative, effective, and cost-effective portfolio that drives health, optimizes overall medical spend and drives a best-in-class employee experience.
  • Analyze benefits data to assess program effectiveness and identify top focus areas to drive care and cost efficiency for plan members.
  • Measure and regularly report out on the impact of health & wellbeing initiatives on medical & disability plan costs and overall workforce efficiency
  • Develop and manage partner relationships working towards optimal productivity and performance
  • Manage comprehensive portfolio of onsite wellbeing programs such as fitness centers, healthy meal program, EAP, and others.
  • Stay informed on emerging trends, competitive market practice, and needs of employees and translate key insights into effective health and wellbeing initiatives and programs that optimize medical plans.
  • Partner with Corporate Social Responsibility, I&D & Corporate Communications to develop holistic and intentional wellbeing activations that positively impact employees and local communities.
  • Develop health & wellbeing communications materials to educate employees about their benefits and drive engagement, awareness, and adoption of programs.
  • Oversee the financial performance of our programs, including annual budget, pricing negotiations and service agreements in close partnership with Finance and vendor partners.

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Strong experience providing leadership to and managing company non-retirement benefit programs.
  • Demonstrated experience as a thought-leader in employee benefits strategies and business results.
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in health benefits strategies, design, plan management, and compliance.
  • Demonstrated success in managing health plans through both strategy phases as well as implementation and evaluation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills – ability to interpret technical/contractual language into easily understood text.
  • Demonstrated skill as a leader and a manager with a broader business orientation than only the technical aspects of health care design and
