We are looking for a North America (NA) Communications Director that can embody this spirit while leading all facets of Communications for the North America Geography.  This person will lead the team who drives the narrative, positions the company internally and externally within the marketplace, protects the company’s reputation, and inspires our communities in the NA marketplace.

The NA Communications Director will oversee the creation and drive compelling stories and campaigns to define and elevate the brand and our leadership. Work will focus on driving Communication strategies that position Converse as a forward-thinking company redefining how today’s youth interacts with brands.

WHAT YOU WILL WORK ON

If this is you, you’ll be working with a highly motivated team across Communications and other business functions, at both the Geography and Global level.   

As the NA Communications Director, you will lead the function across the core facets of CORPORATE, CONSUMER and EMPLOYEE Communications.  You will establish and strengthen authentic connections with INTERNAL and EXTERNAL audiences across NA to advance the Converse narrative through clear, consistent, breakthrough brand, purpose and product storytelling.

A typical week might include leading and coordinating across the US & Canada to achieve the best possible coverage for Converse, while driving the strategy and budget planning for all related Communications events. The role may also be  responsible for building and developing strategic media relationships with key media and media influencers that regularly cover or engagement with Converse, while actively creating new ones.

As NA Communications Director, you will proactively engage with and drive storytelling around our diverse workforce to position Converse as an inspiring company for employees. You will also act as media spokesperson for Converse at key brand and corporate events, as well as develop and execute media messaging, including brand, athlete, influencer, and crisis communications. 

You will manage the NA Comms team and you will develop your direct team as rounded individuals – build career paths for them; identify development opportunities, coach and give feedback to ensure they are equipped to do the work independently.

Equally, you will participate in the development of strategies, messages, plans and communications tools to successfully enhance Converse’s reputation in the areas of Sustainability, Community Impact, and Inclusivity.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH

Converse operates within a matrixed structure.  You will directly oversee the NA Communications Team and report to the  VP, Global Communications.

As part of the Global Communications org, you will engage and liase with your Global Communications counterparts at the Global level and across Converse’s other Geography teams (WE, Asia, Global Partners) to align on and drive annual and seasonal planning and execution.  

As a member of the NA Geography team, you will work closely with the other functional and territory leads to inform strategic planning, particularly Marketing (for Consumer Comms), the Geograpy and Territory GMs (for Employee Comms), and other key North America functional leaders (for Coporate Comms).

Finally, you will work as an integrated member of the North America Leadership Tem (NALT) to both provide counsel and develop and execute strategic communications planning.

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, business or related field.
  • A minimum 10 years relevant work experience and experience as people manager.
  • Previous experience working with consumer and brand focused companie
