Summary of the Position:

Tishman Speyer is seeking a strategic and experienced accounting leader to serve as the Head of US Property and Development Accounting. This role will be based in New York and will oversee all accounting functions for US-based real estate operations, including financial reporting, operational accounting, and capital expenditure accounting.

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in real estate accounting, with deep knowledge across office, residential, and industrial asset classes, and strong experience managing outsourced accounting teams.  This role reports to the Chief Accounting Officer.

Key Responsibilities:

Leadership & Oversight

  • Lead the US Property Accounting and Development Accounting teams, ensuring excellence in financial integrity, controls, and reporting.

  • Manage and oversee relationships with third-party service providers for outsourced accounting functions, including negotiation of rates.

  • Act as a key liaison between the accounting teams and internal stakeholders such as asset management, design & construction, and executive leadership.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Direct the preparation and review of accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for a large and diverse real estate portfolio.

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies and controls.

Operational Accounting & Controls

  • Oversee all property-level accounting functions, including revenue recognition, lease accounting, expense management, and reconciliations.

  • Partner with property managers and asset managers to maintain accurate and timely reporting.

Design & Construction Accounting

  • Oversee capital expenditure tracking, budget monitoring, and reporting for construction and redevelopment projects.

  • Work closely with the Development team to ensure accurate job costing, capitalization, and timely processing of project expenditures.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

  • 10+ years of progressive experience in real estate accounting, with strong exposure to office, residential, and industrial asset classes.

  • Prior experience overseeing outsourced/shared service accounting teams is required.

  • Expertise in GAAP accounting and financial reporting for property operations and construction.

  • Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics D365 preferred

  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

The base compensation range for this role is $225,000 to $275,000.
