Client Engagement Lead - Business Development, Utility Programs and Services Division 

We are looking for a Client Engagement Lead to join our Utility Programs and Services (UPS) Business Development Division and help us grow our business in the utility sector. ICF’s utility practice is poised for significant growth over the next five years. ICF’s utility clients are at the center of a fundamental shift in the energy industry including decarbonization of energy generation, grid modernization, energy efficiency and electrification. We are looking for an energetic, passionate, and driven individual to help utilities across North America solve some of the biggest challenges facing the future of energy.  

The Client Engagement Lead will play a pivotal role in managing and guiding the sales team to drive growth and expand ICF's presence within the utility and energy space. This individual will lead efforts to build and maintain a robust pipeline of opportunities, strengthen client and partner relationships, and contribute to strategic planning to ensure long-term success.

This position is a US based remote position. 

Key Responsibilities 

Team Leadership and Development 

  • Manage and mentor Business Development Managers, providing coaching and fostering their professional growth to enhance team performance and retention. 

  • Drive consistency across the sales process by establishing best practices, standardizing workflows, and ensuring alignment with organizational goals. 

  • Monitor and measure team performance, providing regular feedback and actionable insights to support continuous improvement. 

  • Promote a collaborative and results-oriented culture, encouraging cross-functional engagement and knowledge sharing across the team. 

Pipeline Development and Management 

  • Monitor and oversee a pipeline of opportunities to position ICF for significant growth over the next two years. 

  • Oversee the development of targeted utility pursuits and a list of utility contacts, segmented by solution, and work with the delivery team to qualify leads effectively. 

  • Develop a list of expansion opportunities with key utility clients in collaboration with the sales and delivery team. 

Client and Partner Relationship Management 

  • Establish and foster relationships with key business partners within the Utility Programs and Services division and externally across clients and partners. 

  • Actively engage with leadership, centralized services, and operating group business leaders to synthesize strategic input into actionable growth plans. 

  • Build connections with teams across ICF’s Energy, Environment and Infrastructure operating groups and enterprise corporate resources. 

Strategy Development  

  • Actively contribute to client engagement strategy and planning initiatives. 

  • Support business planning activities, including regular pipeline and gate rev
