Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated Engineering Intern to support the development of a capacitive touch screen tester and the setup of a connectivity components test lab. The intern will design and build a test system to validate touch performance (accuracy, sensitivity, noise immunity) under real-world conditions.

In addition, the intern will support the assembly and organization of a lab focused on testing connectivity components (USB, serial interfaces, cables, and related hardware). This role involves hands-on work with electrical and electromechanical systems, sensors, and automation, while collaborating with hardware and firmware teams.

You will be based in Austin, Texas, US.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop a capacitive touch screen tester to evaluate touch accuracy, responsiveness, and noise performance

  • Develop test methods to simulate real-world touch conditions (finger, glove, moisture, EMI)

  • Design and assemble electrical test setups for touch controller validation

  • Integrate sensors and measurement tools for capturing touch performance data

  • Support automation of test cycles and data logging

  • Assist in building and organizing a connectivity components test lab (USB, serial, cables, Ethernet)

  • Set up and validate test equipment (oscilloscope, power supplies, signal generators)

  • Document test procedures, lab setup, and results

  • Troubleshoot electrical, signal integrity, and lab setup issues

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on validation and debugging

Required

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field

  • Basic understanding of electronics and signal behavior

  • Hands-on prototyping experience

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Ability to work independently and in teams

  • Good communication skills

Preferred

  • Experience with capacitive touch systems or human-machine interfaces

  • Familiarity with microcontrollers (Arduino, STM32)

  • Understanding of signal integrity and EMI concepts

  • Basic programming (Python, C/C++)

  • Experience with CAD tools

  • Exposure to connectivity interfaces (USB, UART, I2C, SPI)

  • Interest in hardware validation and lab setup
