As a full time, exempt, CPS Solutions, LLC Pharmacy Operations Manager, you will oversee all pharmacy operations including planning, organizing, controlling, and supervising activities, according to hospital policies, standards of practice of the profession, and state and federal laws. You will recommend innovations in the practice and function of the pharmacy to hospital administration and carry out mutually agreed upon programs with assistance from a full support team.
Schedule: This position will 40 hours a week with a typical work schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00am to 4:30pm.
Starting Pay: $155,000 - $168,000 annually, (Depending on related work experience).
About the Facility: McLaren Bay Region, located in Bay City, Michigan, is a 399-bed acute tertiary care hospital providing specialty, primary and preventive services including cardiovascular, neuroscience, orthopedics, oncology, women’s health, rehabilitation, home health and hospice care, EMS, and more. McLaren Bay Region is proud to be a Primary Stroke Center and a Neuroscience Center of Excellence.
After merging four hospitals during the 1970s and 1980s, McLaren Bay Region developed a full continuum of health services for Northeast Michigan. With acute care at McLaren Bay Region: Main Campus and McLaren Bay Special Care on the West Campus, home health services, medical equipment, pharmacy, women's health and rehabilitation services, more than 2,000 McLaren Bay Region employees provide quality care to nearly a half million people in East Michigan. CPS Solutions, LLC has partnered with the hospital to manage the day-to-day operations of this pharmacy. This position is an employee of CPS Solutions, LLC.
About the Pharmacy: The Pharmacy is open 24/7.
Required Qualifications:
- BS or PharmD from an accredited School of Pharmacy
- Michigan Pharmacist licensure in good standing
- Management experience in a healthcare/hospital environment.
- Successful completion of a Pharmacy Practice Residency program strongly preferred
- Ability to solve problems, establish trust and credibility.
- Demonstrated teaching, relevant professional publications and involvement with Professional organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, set priorities, make critical decisions, respond to client concerns and work cooperatively with other staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversees daily delivery of pharmaceutical care to patients of the hospital.
- Analyzes systems and operations of the department via quality control measures.
- Identifies operational problems and opportunities for improvement and takes appropriate actions on both.
- Ensures controlled substances are purchased, distributed, and documented in compliance with state and federal laws.
- Ensures drug storage locations are maintained in an appropriate manner (e.g., floorstock, automated dispensing systems, surgery carts, emergency carts, "crash" carts, etc.).
- Ensures drug items are appropriately billed to various areas or patients to promote financial viability of the hospital.
- Ensures pharmacy inventory is maintained at appropriate levels in a cost-conscious manner to promote availability of items in the Formulary.
- Procures non-formulary items after exhausting Formulary alternatives to provide optimal drug therapy.
- Participates in and/or provides support to hospital committees as agreed upon by committee members and the Director of Pharmacy.
- Participates in departmental and hospital performance improvement activities to promote quality in the medication use process.
- Assists department and hospital in maintaining compliance with accreditation standards.
- Assists in presenting medical, nursing, or department in-service programs.
- Performs duties of Staff or Clinical Pharmacist, as required.
- May participate in "Code Blue" situations and document activities occurring during the situation, where appropriate.
