Role description:

We have clear plans for operational efficiencies, driving successful standardization and automation in alignment with our strategic ambitions, and as part of this strategy, we’re seeking a Net Zero (decarbonization SME) global procurement manager who will be instrumental in innovating our procurement and supply chain globally, being at the forefront of industry change and contributing to reducing carbon footprint. 

The Net Zero procurement manager will lead, create, and support activities associated with delivery and reporting on Arcadis sustainability ambitions, acting as a subject matter expert across Net Zero, in a consultancy capacity, advising business and procurement leaders globally. 

To be successful in this role, you will need to demonstrate leadership and SME knowledge across Net Zero / Decarbonisation initiatives and market trends, with experience and knowledge working in/with a global procurement function under a large matrix organization. You will also need to have experience leading international programs, working with senior-level stakeholders, and being able to influence, advise, and drive sustainable procurement initiatives.  

Will report directly to the Global Director of Sustainable Procurement. 

 

Role accountabilities:

Individual Accountabilities:

Program development and implementation for Sustainable Procurement

  • Strategic sustainability leader for targeted complex projects with substantive long-term commitments (like Net Zero–Scope 3), while managing multiple stakeholder relations within and beyond procurement, the Arcadis business lines, and its supply base.
  • Providing targets, instructions, advice, and training to Category Procurement Directors and Buyers on how to effectively increase their sustainability performance and contribution to those sustainability commitments. 
  • Similarly, managing supplier development and collaboration with key suppliers to optimize and secure our shared sustainability performance.
  • Driving the development of category (sustainability/risk) strategies and implementation and monitoring, aligned with Arcadis sustainability values and commitments. 
  • Participating in relevant professional partnerships / strategic networks like WBCSD working groups.

Sustainable Procurement Process and Infrastructure Delivery

  • Owning the building and roll-out of selected Global Programs on the Infrastructure of Sustainable Procurement. This will evolve and include but is not limited to: 
    • (re-)shaping and implementing processes, tools, and (AI-) solutions to improve sustainable procurement practices, including vital change management,
    • internal & external (e.g. suppliers) training on Sustainable Procurement processes, policies, and systems (like CDP), 
    • internal and external (NFR) reporting and communication, 
    • help guide and navigate changes to sustainable procurement practice across the organization, promoting new processes, tools, and partnerships. 

Key Shared Accountabilities: 

  • Develop program and project plans in collaboration with the Global Director of Sustainable Procurement and team, creating projects and a road map and multiple phases of implementation across multiple regions simultaneously including implications based on differing procurement maturity levels including coordination across supporting functions and ensuring resource availability. 


Qualifications & Experience:

  • The successful candidate will need to be degree-qualified in a relevant discipline. You will need to demonstrate subject matter expert knowledge of Net Zero / Decarbonisation initiatives, including scope 3 calculation methodologies and decarbonization approaches for the supply base, and show experience leading global programs that are imbed into a global procurement function under a large matrix organization.
