About the role

Under the general direction of the Director, Accounting & Finance, the Senior Manager, Drop & Count, executes on the department’s strategic objectives and is responsible for the overall leadership of the drop and count teams responsible for the collection and reconciliation of currency throughout the property. Investigates and documents count variances and regulatory violations and leading the activities of the team in order to build efficiencies in regard to process requirements and initiatives. Ensures all policy and procedures are accurately followed while ensuring compliance with the Tribal Internal Controls Standards (TICS) and the Gaming Commission Regulations (GCR).

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.    Ensures team members adhere to the departmental compliance on all Tribal Internal Controls Standards (TICS), Gaming Commission Regulations (GCR), policies, and procedures and completes an accurate reconciliation of the daily count.
2.    Manages workflows to enhance the overall function of the team. Investigations and documents discrepancies according to reporting requirements. Provides detailed written responses to findings and remediations from internal and external auditors.
3.    Establishes the operational and service expectations for the count and drop teams and implements efficient and practical solutions to increase the day-to-day operational productivity of the teams.
4.    Drives results through hiring best practices, staff development and creation of appropriate training programs that align with the strategies and initiatives set forth by executive leadership. Ensures all training, regulatory, and team member documentation is complete and up to date.  Evaluates and analyzes results by reviewing adherences to internal controls and regulatory compliance and auditing variances.  Create effective processes to address gaps.
5.    Leads the team during the implementation of new technology or processes and collaborates with other departments to ensure smooth implementation.
6.    Develops short and long-term strategic and tactical budgetary plans.  Works on all phases of the Drop & Count budget including but not limited to the following: gather data/research, year-to-year analysis, forecasting, implementation, prioritizing and maintaining.  Maintains knowledge of new and evolving technology related to Drop & Count to ensure the department is maximizing efficiency, providing innovation, and cutting-edge solutions.
7.    Performs other duties as assigned to support the efficient operation of the department.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.   Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning reviewing and directing work; evaluating and appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.  Make hiring decisions and designs individual development plans with succession planning in mind for all key roles.

 EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Business Administration required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of progressive experience working in a high-volume count room or gaming operations required.

  • Minimum of three (3) years of Supervisory experience required.

  • Related, relevant, and/or direct experience may be considered in lieu of minimum educational requirements indicated above.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSA)

  • Demonstrates a thorough understanding of regulatory requirements that pertain to the drop and count process.

  • Experience with heavy cash handling, various forms of cash transactions, and operation of counting equipment preferred.

  • Ability to effectively lead teams during times of high volume.

  • Leads by example and fosters a positive team dynamic.

  • Builds collegial and collaborative relationships with stakeholders at various levels.

  • Is able to see and articulate “big picture” thinking that connects the team’s contribution to the Tribe’s and the property’s overall success.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is required.

  • Must maintain high confidentiality.

REQUIRED LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS AND REGISTRATIONS

  • At the discretion of the San Manuel Tribal Gaming Commission, you may be required to obtain and maintain a gaming license.
