Manager, Field Engineering

This role can be remote.

This person reports to the Director of Field Engineering for Communications, Media & Entertainment. The Solutions Architect Manager will lead a team of pre-sales Solutions Architects focusing on a wide array of customer from large complex deployments to greenfield. You will expand and develop a dynamic team experienced in enterprise software, big data, analytics, data engineering, and data science. Your experience partnering with the sales organization will help grow the CME business, coach new SA team members, and develop career progression for your team. You will guide and get involved to enhance your team’s effectiveness, be an expert at communicating complex business value-focused solutions, and help your team support complex sales cycles.

The impact you will have:

• Hire, train, and grow a team of Solutions Architects for a company in high-growth mode.
• Grow the CME business by making sure your SA team knows how to make customers technically successful and identify important use-cases.
• Support your team in building proof of concepts, and establish themselves as trusted advisors throughout the customer life-cycle.
• Make your customers extremely successful with Databricks and provide outsized value to their businesses.
• Establish relationships across the business (partners, sales, GTM) to make your customers and team successful.

What we look for:

• 5+ years of experience in the data space with a technical product (i.e. data warehousing, big data, or machine learning).
• 2+ years of experience leading technical teams, with a preference for a pre-sales organization - building a territory, up-selling strategic accounts, and exceeding annual quotas.
• Trusted advisor to technical executives that guide strategic data infrastructure decisions.
• Led a team through best practices for technical qualifications, proof of concepts, architecture discussions, and product demonstrations.
• Experience hiring qualified candidates, ramping them up to be successful and promoting them into larger roles.
• Create positive morale for the team and help foster a working relationship between Field Engineering, Sales, and other important internal partners

Pay Range Transparency

The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles.  Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
