Director of Strategy & Operations, MBA Programs | McDonough School of Business - Georgetown University
The Director of Strategy and Operations in the MBA Program Office will provide strategic support to the MBA Program Associate Dean and Assistant Dean and manage one other professional staff member in order to guide strategy, programmatic development, and operations in the MBA Program Office. The Director will work across the MBA Program departments in order to unlock efficiencies and synergies among MBA Admissions, Programs, and Career teams. The Director will be responsible for overseeing and assisting in the effective delivery of an exceptional MBA experience for approximately 950+ Full-time and Flex MBA students.
In addition to their strategy, programmatic, and operations responsibilities, s/he will play an instrumental role in developing and evaluating cocurricular initiatives designed to contribute to the holistic and transformative education of our MBA students. Through oversight, planning, and execution of events and activities, the Director will also support and develop community-building initiatives. S/he will serve as an advisor for 50+ MBA clubs, representing a variety of objectives and interests (e.g. career, affinity groups, regional associations, etc.). The Director will also support and develop programming and initiatives for McDonough’s Leadership Fellows, Consortium Fellows, Forte Fellows, and other affinity groups, which requires event planning, logistical support, financial planning, Career Day support, and DEI expertise. Finally, s/he will serve as an academic advisor for multiple FT and FX cohorts —overall 140-210 students, depending on which program and cohorts they are assigned. All of these experiences have a critical impact on the overall student experience and Georgetown McDonough’s ability to stay competitive in the MBA market. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
Provide strategic oversight and advising for 50+ MBA student organizations, managing operations, annual budgets, and data-driven decision-making
Lead and support major co-curricular initiatives and signature events, including but not limited to Orientation, McDonough Cup, Executive Challenge, and KEGS
Develop and implement cross-functional initiatives that promote access, transparency, and inclusion (e.g., Membership Access Fund, Social Impact Internship Fund)
Design and direct the Leadership Transition Series, fostering leadership development and team effectiveness among all MBA student leaders
Represent the MBA Program Office in senior leadership initiatives, advancing institutional strategy, collaboration, and operational excellence
Provide academic advising to assigned MBA cohorts, supporting student success and holistic development
Work Interactions
The Director of Strategy & Operations, MBA Programs reports directly to the Assistant Dean of Strategy and Operations, MBA Programs and works closely with the Associate Dean of MBA Programs, the MBA Academics team, and colleagues across the MBA Program Office. The Director collaborates extensively with Georgetown University and McDonough School of Business Finance & Procurement, Human Resources, the McDonough Career Center, MBA Admissions, MSB Facilities, the Global Operations Team, and Student Affairs groups across Georgetown University (e.g., GradGov), as well as external partners such as CampusGroups (HoyaConnect).
The Director interacts regularly with staff, faculty, student leaders, and MBA student organizations, fostering collaboration and alignment across stakeholders to ensure a seamless academic and co-curricular experience.
