About the role

We are seeking a highly creative and detail-oriented Electrical Technician who is responsible for the design, development, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electrical systems and components critical to operations. This role requires a strong technical background, practical experience with a variety of electrical power systems, and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex electrical issues. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively across maintenance and operations teams to ensure electrical infrastructure functions reliably and safely, minimizing downtime and supporting business continuity.

 Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain electrical systems including motor control centers, power distribution units, unit substations, lighting systems, transformers, and switchgear.
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems and components to ensure continuous operational performance.
  • Conduct inspections and functional testing of wiring, circuits, and systems to detect faults, deterioration, or potential hazards.
  • Execute electrical load testing, insulation testing, and preventative diagnostics to assess system performance and identify potential failures.
  • Support the integration and maintenance of variable speed drives, motors, and building automation systems.
  • Interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications to guide installations and repairs.
  • Collaborate with engineering, maintenance, and operational teams to implement safe and effective electrical solutions.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of work performed, including test results, system upgrades, and repairs.
  • Stay up to date with electrical codes, industry standards, and safety practices.
  • Participate in the research and development of advanced electrical systems, including communication circuitry, control/test equipment, and radiation detection technologies, as applicable.

Basic Qualifications

  • TS/SCI w/ Poly Clearance is required
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical field. Experience can be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 4–8 years of relevant experience (or 2–6 years with a Master’s degree) in electrical or electronic systems design, development, and testing.
  • Strong understanding of electrical/electronic theory and system-level design principles.
  • Proficiency in analog and digital circuit design and troubleshooting.
  • Experience with radar, RF, or communication systems and related test equipment.
  • Working knowledge of digital signal processing (DSP), control systems, and embedded systems.
  • Experience with circuit design and simulation tools (e.g., SPICE, MATLAB).
  • Familiarity with hardware description languages (e.g., VHDL) and programming languages (e.g., Python).
  • Ability to conduct experiments and analyze data to validate designs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex problems and design innovative solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Experience with radiation detection equipment, RF communications, or high-reliability defense systems.
  • Familiarity with electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) and RF shielding techniques.
  • Proficiency with CAD tools for PCB layout (e.g., Altium Designer, OrCAD).
  • Experience with test and measurement tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
  • Background in full lifecycle product development from concept through production.
  • Experience in hardware/software integration, including embedded firmware or FPGA development.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license, Certified LabVIEW Developer, or other relevant technical certifications.
  • Prior experience leading project teams or mentoring junior engineers.
  • Understanding of MIL-STD, FCC, or DoD technical standards for electrical systems.
