Cruise’s Infrastructure Site Engineering team is seeking a Senior Data Center Operations Engineer to help us build, operate, and scale our data center footprint.

Infrastructure Site Engineers at Cruise brings niche knowledge and experience not only in the traditional data center domain but developing industry first mobile data centers as well as custom liquid cooling solutions for Cruise’s AV development.

 

What you’ll be doing:

  • Responsible for design and developing solutions to physical builds of Cruise’s infrastructure.
  • Ownership of any “on the ground’ maintenance required of Cruise’s infrastructure across multiple partner teams nationwide.
  • Collaborating and scaling liquid cooled server fleet across Cruise’s data centers.
  • Monitoring and responding to environmental alarms (power, cooling, and leak detection).
  • Running hardware diagnostics and replacing failing parts in a timely manner.

 

What you must have:

  • Experience working in Data Center Operations for 5+ years or related field
  • CompTIA Server Plus, CompTIA Network+, or CCNA certification or Equivalent work experience
  • Considerable background in infrastructure build: structured cabling, MDF/IDF/MPOE buildout, as well as power and cooling
  • Understanding of electrical and cooling systems with respect to data center environment
  • In-depth knowledge of data center environments, servers, and infrastructure
  • Experience installing, monitoring, and maintaining data center equipment
  • Outstanding ability to work as part of a team, provide support, and resolve errors
  • Ability to keep up with advancements in data center infrastructure and technologies
  • Proficiency in detailing work processes
  • Willingness to work off hours as needed to support maintenance and incidents
  • Mentoring colleagues and maturing the program
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers and internal staff and effectively work in team environment
  • We appreciate outstanding interpersonal skills!
  • Able to participate in on-call rotation
  • Ability to stand and crawl, duck, kneel, lift and move up to 50 pounds over short distances
  • Ability to climb ladders
  • Travel within metro area as needed

 

Bonus points!

  • Prior experience with vendor management
  • Hands-on experience with liquid cooled servers
  • Solid understanding of modern data center infrastructure management (DCIM)
  • Effective leadership skills to drive standardization and efficiency across the team
  • RCDD Certification Preferred

 

The salary range for this position is $100,600 - $148,000. Compensation will vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. You may also be offered a bonus, long-term incentives, and benefits. These ranges are subject to change.
