About the role

Position Summary:
The Leader of the GFS Commercial Business will spearhead the global commercial strategy, driving growth and ensuring client satisfaction for WTW’s Global Banking and Financial Services (GFS) Study product. They will lead a global team to enhance business development efforts, optimize client relationships, and align organizational goals with market demands.

The GFS Business

The Global Financial Services (GFS) Business provides support to a broad client base of Banking and Financial Services clients, including leading Global Investment Banks on their compensation planning process. This includes providing market intelligence, through survey data, specific to their geography, industry, size or peer group to support salary decisions for both executives and non-executives. GFS provide custom analyses that look at market trends and compares that with each client’s unique situation. The GFS team consists of 15 colleagues who are based in the United States and the United Kingdom, allowing them to effectively serve clients in these major financial markets.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Commercial Strategy Development: Develop and implement a comprehensive commercial strategy for GFS globally, focusing on market penetration and competitive positioning.
  • Client Acquisition and Management: Lead new client acquisition efforts to ensure robust study participation and high client satisfaction. Oversee existing client renewals and account management with a focus on client retention and upselling opportunities.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and operations, to ensure seamless delivery of customized solutions and services that meet client needs. Driving product integrated sales and sharing best practices for sales and marketing is a critical element of the role.
  • Team Leadership and Development: Foster a sales culture within the team, coaching and mentoring team members to become successful business developers. Encourage continuous learning and professional growth.
  • Financial Performance Monitoring: Monitor and ensure the achievement of financial targets, including revenue growth and profitability. Analyse financial performance and market data to inform strategic decisions.
  • Stakeholder Relationship Building: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, both internally and externally, to enhance the company's reputation and business opportunities.
  • Thought Leader: The individual will be a thought leader in the practice area, and represent Willis Towers Watson externally (podiums and writing articles), as well as engage in larger or more complex sales opportunities

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Proven experience in leading commercial or business development functions within a global banking and financial services context.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team across geographies.
  • Communication and Negotiation: Excellent communication and negotiation abilities to effectively engage with clients and stakeholders.
  • Strategic Planning: Ability to develop strategic plans and execute them effectively, adapting to changing market conditions.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the banking and financial services industry, including market trends to drive informed decision-making and strategic planning.
