Summary
Our Niman team is looking for the next leader! The Sr. Beef Operation and Bus. Development Manager is dynamic position requiring the flexibility to be able to adapt and work within several different aspects of the business. Lead and mange a team of associates, provide guidance and support as needed. Problem solving ability is of the utmost importance, as the beef industry is in constant state of evolution. Specifically, this role entails providing oversight to production and scheduling for the Beef Division, including monitoring raw input needs, inventory management and maintaining communication and relationships with Niman Ranch co-packers.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Manages beef inventory to balance order fulfillment and monitor dated product.
- Lead harvesting and live production plans and schedules with Sales, Director of Operations, and VP
- Manage and review with sales and marketing regarding inventory levels, code date problems, shortages, and unique production requirements (i.e., holiday schedules, plant inspections, audits, etc.).
- Mange sales, forecasts, and orders to adjust production as needed.
- Monitor weekly/monthly pricing review and analysis with Sales, Director of Operations and VP.
- Position will support business development efforts across all channels at the direction of Director and VP of Beef Operations
- Lead beef production with harvest and fabrication plants, as well as co-packers
- Manage packing inventory at co-packers to ensure no disruption to production, including label inventory for grinds/case-ready
- Visits plants during operations to oversee grade, production, and troubleshoot issues that may arise on site. —is this point trying to communicate that this role also has quality?
- Coordinates inbound raw material for scheduled production
- Manages files of beef product specifications and manages/submits affidavits before harvest and fabrication.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in an Agriculture field, Business, experience in leu of a degree will be evaluated. Our ideal candidate will have/be:
- 7-9 years’ experience working with manufacturing processes for prepared meats or fresh meats; preferred experience in beef.
- Ability to travel for production oversight and/or customer appointments minimum of 2 times per month.
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Detail-oriented team player
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
- Position is mostly sedentary but may require occasional moving to other offices or buildings.
- May need to move light equipment or supplies from one place to another.
- May need to access files, supplies and equipment.
- Work activity is in an office, open-partitioned, cubicle environment.
