Our Contracts team is a pivotal strategic ally within the company, and we are seeking a passionate contracts professional to join our growth-minded, mission-driven legal team. In this cross-functional role, you will be a key player in our legal department, working closely with our Wholesale, Commercial, and Trade Operations teams to negotiate, draft, and manage contracts that are critical to our growth and mission.
You’ll take ownership of a high-volume contract pipeline, ensuring alignment with company policies and regulatory requirements while minimizing risk. As an integral contributor to our contracting process, you’ll have the opportunity to drive process improvements, develop templates and playbooks, and collaborate with teams across the organization. Your contracts expertise will be pivotal in ensuring the smooth execution of our projects as we continue to support global climate action.
This is a full-time position reporting to the General Counsel. Ideally, candidates will be based within a commutable distance of our San Francisco, California office, where you’ll enjoy a flexible hybrid work environment. Exceptional candidates based outside the listed location within the Western time zone will also be considered. WHAT YOU’LL DO
Your work will protect the company from unnecessary risks, strengthen relationships with counterparties, and ensure efficient transaction closures. In this role, you will be an integral contributor at all stages of 3Degrees’ high-volume contracting process. Key focus areas include:Contract Management:
- Manage a high-volume contract pipeline efficiently and professionally from start to finish in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment
- Draft, review, redline, and negotiate contracts and special provisions with precision to ensure alignment with company policies and regulatory compliance
- Ensure contracts are in compliance with the regulatory framework
- Develop and maintain contract templates and playbooks to streamline processes and ensure consistency
- Identify and drive efficiency projects across the company to improve processes and systems
- Interface and collaborate daily with domestic and international employees and counterparties with a sense of professionalism and urgency
- Share company perspectives with colleagues at all levels to facilitate a cohesive and informed team environment
- Manage relationships with counterparties, clients, and internal team members, ensuring a high level of customer service and client satisfaction
- Respond to various audit requests and maintain compliance with regulatory and company standards
ABOUT YOU
You are a highly focused and conceptual thinker skilled at succinctly drafting and reviewing a variety of contracts. You possess a strong business-related educational background, ideally with a bachelor’s degree and/or completion of a legal studies or paralegal certificate. An organized and process-oriented mindset, proficient at completing assignments with limited or no guidance and continuously striving to find operational efficiencies. You enjoy managing various tasks and are comfortable sharing company perspectives with colleagues at all levels. You possess excellent business judgment and can professionally communicate with internal and external parties. The following experiences and skills would demonstrate your ability to be successful in this role:Contract Experience:
- Minimum 5 years of extensive experience working on domestic and international commercial contracts with a strong preference for experience with environmental commodity market contracts and/or products
- Proficient in developing and maintaining contract templates and playbooks to streamline processes and ensure consistency
- Skilled in drafting contracts for new products or entering new regions, demonstrating adaptability and innovation
- High emotional intelligence with the ability to effectively manage relationships, navigate
