About the role

Position Overview

The Director, GCS Strategy & Operations reports to the Head, Global Commercial Strategy (GCS), and serves as a strategic partner to the GCS Leadership Team, anticipating and prioritizing issues and opportunities across the portfolio, ensuring initiatives are executed in a timely and effective manner, and providing operational leadership that enhances organizational efficiency, goal clarity, and alignment between the Global Commercial community and key internal and external (e.g. Publicis) cross-functional stakeholders. The role also drives selectively identified strategic and special projects on behalf of the leadership team.

This leader will play a pivotal role in elevating the quality, coherence, and efficiency of Pfizer's GCS organization.

Role Responsibilities

1. Strategic Advisor

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the GCS Leadership Team, providing strategic insights, analysis, and recommendations to inform key business decisions and initiatives.
  • Foster cross-functional alignment and collaboration across GCS verticals and teams to ensure organizational goals and priorities are effectively communicated, understood, and executed.
  • Provide input to general strategic thinking and approaches to GCS initiatives; represent the Head, GCS as needed in cross-organization meetings, especially when schedules are difficult.
  • Conceptualize and drive key strategic initiatives to foster a more efficient and effective organization while ensuring seamless integration between GCS and other CMO verticals.
  • Drive an AI-mindset and foster approaches to AI-fluency and AI-driven effectiveness and efficiency in processes and key initiatives across GCS.

2. Brand Strategy Refresh & Operating Plan Process

  • Drive the annual Operating Plan (OP) process and deliverables for GCS, working closely with the GCS-LT and Finance Lead to set direction, own execution, and ensure quality across the LT's contributions.
  • Evolve and manage the Brand Strategy Refresh (BSR) process, ensuring alignment of objectives, milestones, and deliverables across GM brand teams & LT, US/ICO, and cross-functional teams (e.g., GAV, Medical, CMO).
  • Lead the GCS Agency Model, continuously improving ways of working with AORs and Global Commercial brands to drive accountability, quality of output, speed, and cost efficiencies in service of brand strategic objectives.
  • Working closely with Strategy & Portfolio Marketing Lead, drive selectively identified cross-portfolio marketing initiatives that span the brands and therapeutic areas.

3. Business Operations

  • Drive day-to-day operational support for the Head, GCS and key CMO interactions (e.g., presentations, communications, briefing documents) and ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Help address and coordinate resolution of requests from various Pfizer stakeholders (e.g., ELT, US Commercial and International LT, Investor Relations, Board members).
  • Manage and oversee end-to-end planning of GCS meetings (e.g., GCS-LT meetings, YBM, offsites, townhalls), including agenda setting, pre-reads, attendees, meeting cadence, and action tracking.
  • Budget Management – Partner with GCS Finance Ops, LT members, and franchise teams on LE and OP submissions.  Exercise accountability and oversight for operations execution and budgets, ensuring adherence to financial spend targets and driving efficiency in resource allocation.

4. Culture Building and Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as a primary liaison between the Leadership team and key stakeholders, facilitating effective communication and collaboration to ensure alignment with GCS organizational goals and objectives.
  • Develop and manage communication channels and events, such as huddles, town halls, and LT meetings, to engage stakeholders and foster transparency and collaboration. Activate the GCS community and drive Pfizer’s purpose and values through partnerships and an annual communications plan, including huddles, blogs, recognition, etc.
  • Partner with PX to drive insights from GCS Pulse results and identify areas for fostering a culture of engagement and growth (e.g. leadership of GCS Mentor program).

5. Global Governance Management:

  • Synthesize and summarize portfolio performance across in-line assets for GCS leadership, consolidating inputs from Global Governance Teams (GGTs) to enable consistent, informed decision-making across the GCS system of work.
  • Drive alignment on the WoW between Global and US/ICO Regions.
