The Consumer Benefits Specialist is responsible for providing specialized consumer benefits services to persons receiving Mental Health Recovery Services specifically assuming day to day management and implementation of the Representative Payee Services Program.

-Provide specialized entitlement, consumer benefits counseling and skills training services to consumers with mental illness and other co-occurring disorders.
-Maintain accounting documentation of all financial transactions of each individual receiving payee services.
-Coordination of consumer centered budget development and implementation.
-Provide direct consumer services and staff consultation related to obtaining and maintaining entitlements/benefits and the appeal process.
-Work closely with federal, state and local entitlement/benefit providers to develop liaisons/partnerships, provide and receive education, and ensure a consistent line of communication related to consumer benefits.
-Provide ongoing skills teaching, counseling, support, advocacy, assistance in problem solving and building community and family support to the payee caseload of consumers and significant others.
-Monitor each consumer's mental status, observing for early signs of decompensation and confer with treatment team to promote wellness.
-Maintain consumer records and other required documentation in line with Bridgeway and stakeholder expectations (CARF, Community Mental Health Medicaid, DMH, DHS, Social Security Administration, etc.).
-Provide consumer advocacy in the community.
-Provide transportation to consumer as needed.
Minimum requirements include a Bachelor's Degree from a four-year college or university; and one to two years related experience and/or training; or combination of education and experience in Human Services or Accounting. Must have Mental Health Professional (MHP) status. Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving history, meet driver insurability requirements, and reliable transportation. Employment with Bridgeway is conditional up completion of all background checks.
