Job Description
As the Director of Software Development for Intranet Applications, you will lead and oversee the development, deployment, and integration of software solutions primarily focused on SharePoint, Power Apps, Azure, AWS, and Content Management Systems (CMS). The role demands technical proficiency, leadership, strategic thinking, and a deep understanding of the platforms in scope.
Responsibilites:
- Oversee NBCU’s Corporate intranet site and its associated external applications catering to diverse departments, including Corporate Communications, Legal, Finance, Privacy, Film, and TV Entertainment
- Develop and execute a comprehensive software engineering strategy, leveraging SharePoint, Power Platforms, Azure, AWS, CMS Drupal, and advanced AI capabilities
- Lead the software engineering team with a strategic and technical focus, developing tailored and expandable software solutions for NBCUniversal
- Architect scalable, secure, and dependable software applications, adhering to agile best practices and industry benchmarks
- Supervise diverse CMS platforms supporting enterprise communication and event logistics, enterprise-level video broadcasting, messaging applications, and NBCU’s signature campus mobile app. Specific tools include Attendease, Campaign Monitor, Vimeo and Emma.
- Supervise the entire software development lifecycle by effectively utilizing DevOps methodologies, from initial planning to deployment
- Collaborate closely with UX/UI professionals, ensuring all intranet platforms are intuitive and user-friendly
- Conduct end-user feedback sessions with different groups across the Enterprise to gather insights
- Pinpoint and implement opportunities to streamline and consolidate our workplace technology platforms
- Design and regularly update product blueprints, anticipating changes that could influence the end-user experience
- Align with NBCU functional and quality parameters, including performance, security, user experience, and accessibility standards
- Engage proactively with senior executives, stakeholders, and clients to assimilate business requirements, consolidate feedback, and share the progression and vision of software engineering endeavor
- Scrutinize project backlogs and upcoming tasks, conduct feasibility analyses, endorse design solutions, and ensure the cohesiveness of the broader system architecture
- Champion the professional growth of the team, emphasizing platform proficiency and tool mastery. Provide mentorship and guidance to foster skill development and career advancement. Cultivate a team environment prioritizing cooperation, creativity, and ongoing refinement
- Remain attuned to the latest technological advancements and sector evolutions, ensuring that technical choices resonate with NBCUniversal's strategic interests
Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field; Master's degree preferred
- Proven experience (12+ years) in IT software product or development Engineering
- 8+ years of experience in software development and project management
- 3+ years of experience in product management, with a proven track record of delivering successful solutions
- 5+ years of experience in developing presentations and end-user documentation
