Job purpose

Responsible for establishing financial procedures and policies. Conducts the relationship with institutions and the financial community. Responsible for evaluating the unit's operating results in terms of costs, budgets and trends. Oversee the maintenance of tax records and preparation of financial reports.

Viana do Castelo plant, Portugal

RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:  

  •  Develop, analyze and interpret statistical and accounting information in order to evaluate operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget and other matters related to the fiscal soundness and operational effectiveness of the plant. 
  • Prepare budgets: annual and general of the company. 
  • Prepare economic reports to the group's headquarters. 
  • Function as a source of knowledge about details and mechanics of financial systems. 
  • Responsible for economic feasibility studies. 
  • Responsible for evaluating the finance department and overseeing internal audit cost accounting and budget controls. 
  • Coordinate accounting closings: monthly and annual. 
  • Directing internal controls in financial reporting and management activities. 
  • Certify to support all activities involving the annual audit carried out by external auditors. 
  • Manage general ledger activity and allocates among the various corporate entities. 
  • Responsible for the development of employees to increase the level of talent for the company. 
  • Establish continuous improvement plans that lead to a more efficient organization  
  • Facilitate efficient and open communication within the department and with the rest of the organization's departments. 
  • Ensure respect and compliance with the safety and cleanliness rules of the workplace. 
  • To ensure the continuous improvement of health, safety and environmental conditions. 
  • Participate in the definition, implementation and maintenance of the organization's policies. 
  • Participate in the definition of objectives of the Environmental Management, Health and Safety at Work Policy. 
  • Actively participate in the continuous improvement of the Environmental Management, Health and Safety at Work Policy. 
  • Ensure compliance with environmental, health and safety at work standards, policies and practices in accordance with their level of responsibility. 
  • Develop a culture characterized by good work ethics and involvement in the process among employees in all areas.  
  • Comply with environmental, occupational health and safety, quality and productivity standards. 
  • Comply with the rules of the organization and the internal regulations: Code of Ethics, practice and schedule. 
  • Respect the safety and cleanliness rules of the workplace. 
  • Perform other tasks not included in the activity for which he or she was hired, when needs or convenience of service justify it, for the period of time necessary for such needs or conveniences of service. 

 

TRAINING and/or EXPERIENCE: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, Management, Accounting, Finance or related field. 

  • OCD (valorized). 

  • MBA (valued). 

  • Minimum of 10 years of business experience characterized by a path of increasing responsibility. 

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in supervisory positions (preferred). 

  • Excellent leadership skills. 

  • High problem-solving skills. 

  • Good computer skills. 

  • Solid knowledge of the country's tax and accounting system. 

  • Solid knowledge of international accounting standards. 

  • Solid knowledge of change management principles and processes.
