How will you make an impact in this role?
The Senior Data Engineer will report to the Director of Cyber Data Engineering & Products team in the Cyber Analytics department of Amex.
- They will provide technical or analytical guidance as needed for building various IT asset inventories around servers, EUCs, network devices, K8s clusters, Cloud Service offerings etc.
- This individual will enable informed decision making; guide the verification of completeness, accuracy and relevance of IT Asset Management data
- As such they will support data analysis activities for IT Asset Management data and must be familiar with various IT infrastructure deployment patterns, both within on-premises data centers as well as Cloud Service Providers
- They will be also be responsible for evaluation and automation of the asset inventory data collection framework and should be capable of building unit test cases, performance testing their solution etc.
- They must have experience in planning, documenting scope and estimating work effort, producing quality deliverables on time and budget.
- They will develop and debug complex code, conduct code reviews, and mentor other developers on coding standards in alignment with best practices.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have experience in Cyber Analytics, infrastructure technology, big data technology, security event monitoring or some combination thereof.
- 5+ years of database development experience in a professional environment or Bachelor's Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Information Systems
- Hands on expertise with design and development for at least one of the RDMBS databases such as Oracle, MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL
- Hands on expertise with design and development for at least one of the MPP Stores such as HIVE, Greenplum, Teradata etc. required
- Python program experience required. Additionally experience with any one of the following Python programming frameworks such as Django, Flask, FastAPI etc. required.
- Proficiency in Kubernetes DevOps environment preferred
- Experience with NoSQL data stores such as Apache Solr or ElasticSearch required.
- Proficiency in at least one of these ETL solutions such as Dagster, Apache Airflow or Apache Nifi required.
- Familiarity with messaging brokers such as Kafka or RabbitMQ
- Cloud technical certifications from either AWS, GCP or Azure would be preferred.
