The Role:

*Must reside in the state of California.  Some travel may be required.

The Director Pharmacy 340B Program PSJH oversees all aspects of the California Region 340B program, including compliance, program expansion, and financial reporting. Provides operational accountability, management, and process development of the 340B program to ensure optimal operational performance in compliance with legal, regulatory, and financial standards.

 

Performs ongoing analysis and audits of the program and data validation to ensure accurate and optimal performance. Manages drug manufacturer accounts and ensures proper inventory flow related to the program. Manages staff related to the program and coordinates operational efforts from supporting departments. Participates in development and rollout of the Specialty Pharmacy network.

 

The 340B Program Director works with the qualified 340B ministries in the region to optimize purchasing for medications from the 340B program. 

 

What You'll Do:

340B Program Operations and Compliance

  • Ensures policies and procedures are implemented according to state and federal guidelines 

  • Ensures audits follow current regulatory compliance recommendations and are completed at the facility level

  • Ensures that 340B program specialists are able to complete evaluations of gaps at the facility level and assist in providing the tools necessary to be compliant with the 340B program

  • Reporting – ensures reporting meets PSJH, regional, state, and federal guidelines

  • Participate in projects, councils, and special initiatives related to 340B, compliance, auditing functions and vendor selection

  • Keep abreast of regulations, trends, and issues pertaining to the 340B program

  • Provide expertise to staff and participants with the 340B program regarding ongoing compliance

  • Conduct 340B program training for staff and modify training materials as needed based on federal, state, and local program changes

  • Provide training and technical assistance to health system sites and contract pharmacies

  • Develop and maintain internal relationships (accounting, legal, compliance, operations, and finance) and external relationships (wholesalers, manufacturers, contract pharmacies, splitter software vendors, Pharmacy Benefits Manager (PBM), and Third-Party Administrator (TPA) vendors as needed)

     

  • Oversight of Regional 340B Program Specialists

  • Perform compliance audits, review program reports for regulatory adherence, and report finding to stakeholders and senior/corporate leadership 

     

  • Actively manage and deliver on leadership expectations around project activities, timelines, deliverables, and outcomes

  • Identify and implement improvements to operational processes and program execution

     

  • Other duties as required

  • Must be able to travel by a variety of efficient transportation methods to all PSJH sites within scope of assignment

     

 

What You’ll Bring

Education & Licensure

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.

  • PharmD (preferred).

  • Master’s Degree (MPH, MBA) (preferred).

  • California Registered Pharmacist License (required upon hire; vendor managed).

Leadership & Experience

  • 3+ years of pharmacy experience in an applicable area.

  • 2+ years of management experience.

  • Personal values and ethics aligned with Providence St. Joseph Health.

Professional & Clinical Capabilities

  • Thorough understanding of 340B program requirements is required for this role.

  • Strong understanding of pharmacy operations and integrated pharmacy services.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and implement contemporary clinical and operational pharmacy programs.

  • Current knowledge of regulatory and accreditation standards.

Leadership Competencies
