Job Summary:

Conducts research on individuals and organizations and performs a variety of prospect management activities for the purpose of enhancing and supporting fundraising strategies set by leadership. Duties include but are not limited to, prospective donor identification and research (developing detailed donor profiles, event bios, and new prospect/lead synopses); assignment of prospects to staff; assessment and analysis of prospects relative to their capacity and propensity to give; and other research activities in support of development initiatives. Working with the Database Manager, the Prospect Research Analyst will help integrate policies and procedures related to research activities into standardized operations of the Foundation department. Actively participates/leads prospect review meetings. Collaborates with the Foundation team in reaching its fundraising activity and revenue goals through prospect research and data mining. Serves as the principal authority on prospect research and philanthropic trends. Manages a research request queue and respond to a variety of requests. Negotiates the profile or report format and time frame for proper deliverable. Collects and analyzes data to ensure that relevant information is available and disseminated to the appropriate party.

Job Requirements:

Education and Work Experience:

  • Associate's/Technical Degree or equivalent combination of education/related experience: Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in Data Analysis, Research Methodology, or Computer Applications.: Preferred
  • Three years' relevant prospect research experience: Preferred
  • Experience working with a relational database to track/store/report on data: Required

Essential Functions:

  • Performs prospective donor identification, research and analysis to assess financial capacity, philanthropic tendencies, giving propensity and connections to market. Identifies new sources of funding for priority initiatives, and ensure timely assignment of newly identified prospects.
  • Develops robust fundraiser portfolios containing the strongest prospects, utilizing industry best practices to develop and implement strategies and processes to rate, identify, assign, and track leadership, major, principal, and planned gift prospects.
  • Develops and implements proactive strategies to execute dynamic wealth and propensity reviews and identify new major gift pipeline prospects.
  • Serves as the principal authority on prospect research and philanthropic trends. Integrates policies and procedures related to research activities into standardized foundation operations.
  • Monitors local and national news, business publications, and other sources on a daily basis to capture information on current and future donors and incorporate into profiles. Keeps abreast of donor trends, philanthropy prospect information, and local and regional business developments and economic trends.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
