If this sounds like an environment you would thrive in, we have an exciting opportunity for a Director, NSSS Component Engineering or Reactor Component Engineering.

 

Direct and lead the multiple Engineering groups associated with the performance of engineering design and analysis for various components supporting PWR, BWR, and eVinci designs.  Component design and analyses require a strong nuclear safety culture, a focus on documentation rigor, and problem-solving capabilities.  Projects within the department span a wide range including short tasks, multi-year efforts, and emergent support of utility outages.

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Lead an organization of over 150 engineers in multiple countries (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and the United States) organizational development, personnel development and resource planning, design finalization execution, development of new analysis methodology to address emerging customer and regulatory needs, support critical engineering and licensing of new plant projects including both the state of the art AP1000 passive plant as well as the eVinci microreactor development, and implementation strategy for components in multiple regions with consideration of different regulatory needs and approaches.
  • Provide technical and operational oversight to assigned personnel, other BU representatives and design organizations
  • Develop and grow the organization to support design, analysis, project implementation and emergent business opportunities.
  • Ensure training and qualifications of personnel are identified, documented and managed throughout all parts of department leading to a long-term pipeline of talent at all levels.
  • Oversee engineering performance relative to scope, schedule, funding and quality of work as well as responsiveness to customers requirements.  
  • Direct continual improvement by review of the department’s operations and development and introduce alternative approaches, methods, or equipment/tools to effectively accomplish objectives.
  • Manage and ensure compliance with contractual agreements
  • In conjunction with other Westinghouse groups, establish strategies for obtaining new business and meeting financial and strategic objectives.
  • Participate in preparation of proposals, provide technical leadership and initiate actions to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Consult with other internal functions to provide advance information on potential business opportunities.
  • Assist engineering, strategy, business development and project management teams in implementing plans and achieving objectives.
  • Provide direct interface and communication to senior Project personnel including Customer, Partners, and Regulators
  • 20-30% travel

 

 

The successful candidate for this position will possess the following:

•  BS Engineering

• 10-15 years of applicable experience 

•  3-5 years of people leadership

 

Preferred:

• MBA

• Professional Engineer

• Commercial Nuclear Experience
