The Senior Area Director, Northeast Sales, is responsible for achieving US Commercial P&L targets, managing an annual US revenue responsibility of over $100M with growth in plan. This role involves leading the strategy, structure, and effectiveness of the US Sales organization. As a significant member of the CRDN Leadership team, the Senior Area Director contributes to and is accountable for the strategic direction and vision of CRDN in the United States.
A typical day involves overseeing the comprehensive performance of the sales organization, ensuring that revenue growth, market share, and operating margin targets are met. Coaching and leading the US Field Sales, and Commercial Managerial Leaders are key aspects of the role, along with providing leadership for key product launches and commercial initiatives across the West. This position demands a strong growth mindset, customer engagement, and collaboration among many stakeholders.

A Day in the Life
The Senior Area Director for the Coronary Renal Denervation (CRDN) Operating Unit reports directly to the Vice President of the business and serves on the CRDN US Leadership team. Medtronic’s CRDN business is at an exciting turning point, combining the mature Coronary market segment, the emerging Symplicity blood pressure procedure, and the opportunity to transform the cath lab through digital and data-driven technologies. - Develop plans and execute strategies for business growth and achieving sales goals for the Northeast Area.
- Achieve profitable sales volume, market share and other key financial performance objectives.
- Create a culture of success and ongoing business and sales goal achievement providing leadership to the sales organization’s management team, while fostering a culture of accountability, professional development, high-performance and ethical behavior.
- Leads sales organization change initiatives by continuously assessing the needs for change, championing change initiatives and removing obstacles impeding performance.
- Establish and maintain productive peer-to-peer relationships with customers and clinicians.
- Actively participate in strategic planning, sales strategy development, forecasting, sales resource planning and budgeting.
- Accountable for effective sales organization design, including sales job roles and commercial operations.
- Investigate new business opportunities to create value for the business and customer and create demand for our products.
- Establish and maintain relationships with Key Opinion Leaders to ensure on-going flow of information on product needs and market conditions.
- Reinforce compliance with all Medtronic policies, business conduct standards and pricing strategies and addressing compliance issues swiftly.
- Define sales processes that drive desired sales outcomes and identify improvements where and when required.
- Put in place infrastructure and systems to support the success of the sales function.
- Manage the talent agenda in alignment with the strategic business imperatives through succession planning, talent development, performance management and retention.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements / Experiences
- Bachelor’s degree
- Minimum 15 years’ prior sales and/or sales leadership experience, or Master’s / other advanced degree with a minimum of 13 years’ sales and/or sales leadership experience
- Minimum of 10 years of managerial experience
- Medical device sales experience
- Experience managing a full P&L, beyond revenue
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively (up to 75% of the time; domestic and international).
