The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.

Responsibilities:

GENERAL PURPOSE:
The Public Health Project Specialist II (PHPS II) provides liaison support at the professional level between health projects involving units within the University and health entities within the region. The PHPS II will support public and environmental health initiatives for the Finger Lakes Children’s Environmental Health Center (FLCEHC) and the Western NY Lead Poisoning Resource Center. This full-time position involves coordinating outreach efforts, engaging with communities, and promoting health education to address environmental health concerns. The Specialist will work with Environmental Health Medical Director and designated teams to execute program implementation, stakeholder collaboration, and efforts to improve community health outcomes.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Finger Lakes Children’s Environmental Health Center (FLCEHC)

Rural Outreach: Conduct outreach through phone calls and site visits to rural counties and health departments to gather feedback, share FLCEHC resources, and promote educational opportunities including webinars and in-person meetings/talks. Attend and engage in annual Rural Outreach Conference (and other relevant conferences as needed) by submitting abstracts and managing informational and outreach tables. Represent Rural health concerns at NYS Children’s Environmental Health Center meetings.

Teen Outreach: Work with FLCEHC team and site PI to plan and execute outreach activities focused on environmental health and climate change for teens and community partners, including virtual meetings, volunteer events, and educational programs.

Team Collaboration: Attend an participate in FLCEHC team meetings.

WNY Lead Poisoning Resource Center

Lead Consultation and Case Management: Manage lead poisoning intake calls, coordinate chelation admissions, and assist with communication and discharge planning in collaboration with the Clinical Lead Team.

Community Engagement: Attend Monroe, Livingston, and Finger Lakes coalition meetings (every 1-2 months), health events, and conferences (2-5 times a year) to share updates and promote community awareness of lead poisoning prevention and intervention strategies.

Outpatient Support: Work with clinical practices with low lead testing rates to share resources, problem-solve improvements, and coordinate educational sessions for providers with the Clinical Lead Team.

Data Management and Reporting: Maintain RedCap database of clinical consultations and chelations, prepare and review quarterly reports with Clinical Lead Team, and collaborate with regional partners (Buffalo and Syracuse) to support program goals.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree with major course work in an appropriate health, social or technical field required.
• 2 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education or experience required.
• Experience in public health program implementation, community outreach, and stakeholder engagement, with a focus on environmental health and underserved populations preferred.
• Strong skills in organizing events, managing data, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams are essential required.
• Works effectively with others and to accept responsibility for confidential and sensitive matters required.
