Summary:
Oversee the conception and design of manufactured goods.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Utilize external and internal inputs from customers, sales, marketing, manufacturing and quality, designs new products and modifies existing products to create unique, customer-centric solutions.
• Conduct design feasibility and cost analysis, strength calculations, material selection, part construction, part specification, scheduling and coordinating activities involved in prototyping, fabricating, and manufacturing of assigned products and systems.
• Develop and maintain a comprehensive project schedule with the ability to manage / juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
• Lead multi-functional new product project teams through project technical feasibility analysis, initiation, planning and launch, while adhering closely to project timeline and budget.
• Support Sales with answering technical questions and prepare technical reports to be shared directly with customers/end users
• Support Marketing and Product Management with technical information to be used for training and marketing of products.
• Support Manufacturing to provide processing improvements including design and development of assembly tooling and fixturing.
• Determine necessity of testing and initiates testing of new and existing products.
• Complete testing/product validation documentation.
• Research materials, new suppliers, components, parts and competitor products.
• Must be willing and able to travel up to 50% - the company’s manufacturing operations are in Orland, FL with additional toll manufacturers located in the US and Canada. Customer and supplier visits will also be required.
Qualifications:
• BS in Mechanical Engineering or similar
• 5+ years of progressive experience in a fast-paced, high growth, manufacturing or product related business(es)
• In-depth knowledge of plastics materials and the injection molding, plastic extrusion (profile/sheet), compression molding, and thermoforming processes
• Proficiency in the use of Solidworks CAD platform
• Is well versed in the Product Development process and has a successful track record of products from idea to manufacturing to product launch
• Has the ability and desire to thrive in a smaller company environment where personal accountability and team management go hand in hand
• Possesses outstanding team building and communication skills at all levels in the organization.
