Unit Overview:
The Institute for Materials and Manufacturing’s Nanotech West Laboratory (NTW) is the largest, most comprehensive micro- and nanofabrication user facility in Ohio. The 36,000-square-foot shared user facility is open to both academia and industry. Managed by IMR, NTW is an extensively equipped and fully staffed space where researchers can access laboratories and equipment, as well as take advantage of in-house training, process and project support. NTW’s user-accessible facility resources include a 6,000-square-foot cleanroom, major shared facilities for semiconductor and oxide epitaxy, materials and device characterization, and shared labs for research of energy storage materials and devices.
Job Overview:
The Laboratory Research Operations Senior Analyst primary focus is leading the areas of photolithography and general cleanroom protocol and training; owns photolithography area: maintains equipment, operates equipment and coordinates user training on all photolithography equipment; works with equipment engineer and technicians to both maintain laboratory operations and execute on Nanofab projects and deliverables; develops, maintains, and documents baseline processes for direct write and contact photolithography; maintains knowledge state-of-the-art lithography and a curiosity about new processes, tools, and devices; responsible for monitoring and annual set/input for “cost model” for each tool within lithography areas; maintains knowledge of capabilities at similar/peer institutions, provides direction and feedback to Nanofab Manager and NTW Director by recommending equipment, processes, and procedures to better support NTW research user base and improve cleanroom operations; responds to changing research needs by providing lithography expertise. Collaborates with other area leads (deposition, etch, and safety) to develop and improve processes across the entire Nanofab and to support general lab operation.
Primary equipment that fall under the responsibility of this role are Heidelberg MLA150 (2), EVG 620 contact aligner, spin coaters, hotplates and ovens for photolithography, optical microscopes, and physical thin film measurement tools (stylus profilometers).
In this role, you will work with a diverse population of users, with varying academic backgrounds and experience levels. Must be able to work with graduate students, engineers from external companies and national labs, professors, and other researchers. Ensures a safe and productive work environment for all users and staff. Reports to Nanofab Manager.
