Where You Will Work
Located approximately 50 miles northeast of Safford, Arizona on U.S. Highway 191, Morenci operations (an open-pit copper mining complex) has been in continuous operation since 1939. The operation consists of two concentrators, crushed-ore leach pad and stacking system, a low-grade run-of-mine (ROM) leaching system; four SX plants; and three EW tank houses that produce copper cathode.

Description
Under general supervision, facilitates a variety of complex engineering projects including data collection and monitoring, maintenance, surveillance activities, and others as needed to support operations at an assigned site.
- Manage the installation, troubleshooting and maintenance of field instrumentation and monitoring equipment.
- Manage data and assist with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentals.
- Utilize computer programs to solve engineering problems and maintain proper documentation.
- Oversee acquisition of automated and manual field instrumentation and survey data.
- Perform technical evaluation of equipment, troubleshoot and perform maintenance of installed instrumentation
- Maintain accurate and current project documentation.
- Manage survey and mapping projects (with GPS, total station, drone).
- Provide training and guidance to technicians and engineers on the operation and maintenance of instrumentation and equipment.
- May work with vendors and contractors in the support of data collection and interpretation of data
- Provide backup support for Engineers in analysis and processes as required
- Perform other duties as requested.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- Five (5) years of experience in an engineering or technical area relevant to the assignment.
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
- Ability to develop good working relationships within own team and folks from various other departments.
- Skilled in safely using, maintaining, and repairing specialized equipment
Preferred Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED
- One year experience in the mining industry
- Aptitude for computers and/or electronics
- Experience with vibrating wire piezometers
- Knowledge of specialized equipment, methods, and techniques appropriate to assignment, including CAD, GIS/GPS mapping techniques
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions
Criteria/Conditions:
- This is a safety sensitive role
- Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures given in English
- Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards
- Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment
- Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
- Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to fifty (50) pounds during the course of the workday
- Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environmen
