We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Bookkeeper to manage end-to-end financial operations for our client’s business. This role covers bookkeeping, payroll, accounts management, tax compliance, reporting, and insurance obligations. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proactive, and proficient in Xero, Aroflo, and Deputy, with a strong understanding of Australian compliance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Bookkeeping
Maintain the general ledger and ensure accurate financial records.
Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
Support budgeting and forecasting processes.
Perform bank reconciliations and monitor internal controls.
Provide financial analysis and recommend process improvements.
Manage end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes.
Process invoices, credits, refunds, and debtors weekly.
Enter bills and payments in Xero and Aroflo, ensuring timely approvals.
Handle client invoicing, including portal uploads (Capital Guardians, Allianz, etc.).
Reconcile staff expense claims and company account payments.
Manage contractor and supplier payments.
Process weekly payroll in compliance with legislation and award requirements.
Review and reconcile timesheets, superannuation, statutory deductions, bonuses, and leave entitlements.
Maintain accurate employee records and manage payroll enquiries.
Process new starters, transfers, and terminations, including termination payments.
Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG, superannuation, and other tax obligations.
Assist with EOFY reporting (super, payroll tax, workcover).
Provide ad hoc payroll and financial reports as required.
Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Manage company insurance policies (building, vehicle, workcover, public liability, major modifications).
Monitor and reconcile company credit cards, phones, internet, and subscriptions.
Liaise with brokers, auditors, and external partners as required.
Build strong working relationships with staff, management, and external stakeholders.
Handle enquiries with professionalism, active listening, and empathy.
Requirements
Proven senior-level experience in bookkeeping and payroll.
Proficiency in Xero, Aroflo, and Deputy (mandatory).
Strong knowledge of Australian tax compliance (BAS, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax).
Exceptional attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication skills for liaising across teams and with external stakeholders.
Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
