POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a Software Test & Support Engineer who will serve as a vital link between our product development, shop floor operations, and after-sales service teams. This hybrid role combines hands-on software testing for off-highway vehicle systems with technical support for manufacturing and field service activities. You will help ensure that Rosenbauer vehicles meet the highest standards of functionality, reliability, and maintainability both before and after they leave the factory.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

- Develop, document, and execute manual and automated test plans and test cases for embedded software used in Rosenbauer vehicles. Collaborate with globally located software developers on a shared software architecture.
- Perform functional, integration, regression, and system testing on software using both hardware-in-the-loop (HiL) test benches and Rosenbauer vehicles. Initiates and implements integrated hardware and software solutions to improve value by increasing quality and performance or by reducing costs.
- Work closely with software developers, system engineers, and product managers to clarify requirements and ensure test coverage.
- Identify, document, and track software defects using issue tracking systems.
- Participate in design and code reviews to ensure testability and quality.
- Support continuous improvement of testing processes, tools, and methodologies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the USA and Europe to ensure global product quality standards.
- Assist with root cause analysis and verification of software fixes in both lab and field environments.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required by management to meet the needs of the company.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES (KSA’s): The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.

Knowledge, Education, and/or Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field required.
- 2+ years of experience in software testing, preferably in embedded systems or automotive/off-highway environments required.
- Familiarity with testing tools and frameworks (e.g., Vector CANoe, Jenkins, Python, Git, Jira) required.
- Understanding of communication protocols (e.g., CAN, LIN, Ethernet) and diagnostic standards (e.g., UDS) required.
- Experience with vehicle electric DC & AC generation and supply, multiplex wiring required.
- Knowledge of firefighting processes and equipment preferred.
- Experience with requirements-based software engineering preferred.
- Knowledge in SAE J1939 and CANopen protocol preferred.
- Familiar with Peak tools such as PCAN Explorer preferred
