Position Overview
The Illinois Department of Corrections is looking for a candidate to serve as Human Resources Representative for Menard Correctional Center. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, task oriented, has excellent organizational skills, shows great attention to detail, and is a team player with strong interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working in a fast-paced environment and the ability to evaluate and change priorities throughout the workday. This position serves as the Human Resources Generalist with responsibilities including recommending action concerning application of rules, regulations, and policies governing all personnel transactions, retirement system benefits and staffing procedures, and administering retirement services. This position also serves as a working supervisor. We encourage all qualified applicants to apply.
Essential Functions
- Serves as a human resources generalist.
- Serves as a working supervisor.
- Completes monthly Personnel Reports for the Executive Assistant and union of Menard Correctional Center.
- Administers the Automated Job Posting system for vacancies at Menard Correctional Center.
- Serves as Retirement Signature Designee.
- Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Minimum Qualifications
- Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college and one (1) year of professional experience, preferably in human resources, or satisfactory completion of an approved training program.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working in a Human Resources Office.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience gathering data and formulating reports.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience handling retirement related responsibilities including advising and/or administering state or non-state retirement services.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience working with and applying human resources rules, guidelines, policies, and procedures.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience handling confidential information/documents and following confidential guidelines and procedures.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience providing guidance and direction to lower-level staff.
- Prefers at least two (2) years of experience utilizing a computer with Microsoft Suite or similar programs.
