Job Summary:
As a Technical Program Manager (TPM) focused on New Product Introduction (NPI) and Strategic Sourcing Programs, you will lead cross-functional teams to execute new medical product development from concept through commercialization. You will also manage supplier transitions and supply chain optimization programs, ensuring delivery of high-quality, compliant products in a timely and cost-effective manner. This role requires strong technical, operational, and cross-functional leadership capabilities in a regulated medical manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
Program & Technical Leadership
Lead NPI programs from early-stage development through design transfer and launch.
Develop and manage integrated project plans with defined milestones, budgets, resources, and risk mitigation strategies.
Act as the central coordination point across teams including R&D, Marketing, Strategic Sourcing, Manufacturing, Software, Hardware, Test, and Technical Support.
Resolve technical, operational, quality, and logistics issues as they arise during program execution.
Drive early-stage design input including Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Design for Assembly (DFA), and cost optimization.
Supplier & Sourcing Strategy
Identify, assess, and qualify new suppliers in collaboration with Strategic Sourcing and Engineering.
Ensure supplier readiness for NPI, including tooling, capacity planning, PPAP, process validation, and first article inspections.
Conduct technical reviews, lead make-vs-buy decisions and manage supplier risk across global supply chains.
Manufacturing & Supply Chain Transitions
Manage the transition of products or components from internal sites to external contract manufacturers or new suppliers.
Define and execute transition plans, ensuring supply continuity and minimal disruption to operations.
Align inventory strategies during transitions and mitigate risks related to supply, demand, and quality.
Cross-Functional Program Execution
Facilitate alignment and execution across R&D, Regulatory, Quality, Manufacturing Engineering, and Supply Chain.
Lead program activities including phase gate reviews, DFMEAs, and design reviews.
Maintain program visibility through dashboards, executive reports, and structured communication.
Manage change control, risk management, and issue resolution to ensure program success.
Ensure deliverables and milestones are met while adapting to shifting priorities and timelines.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Supply Chain, or a related technical discipline.
5+ years of experience in supply chain, manufacturing engineering, or technical program management.
5+ years leading NPI or product transfer programs in a regulated industry (medical devices, pharma, aerospace).
Technical expertise in mechanical/electromechanical systems and manufacturing environments.
Demonstrated experience managing global, cross-functional projects.
Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle (V-model, Agile, or hybrid) and manufacturing transfer processes.
Experience with supplier selection, qualification, and product transitions.
Proficiency in ERP (SAP preferred), PLM (e.g., Agile, Windchill), and QMS systems.
