Position Summary
This leadership role reports to the Director of Packaging Engineering and is based in Columbus, OH. You will manage the Packaging Lab’s daily operations, lead a technical team, and support packaging development, test method validation, and quality initiatives. This role requires occasional travel (10–25%), including international trips.
What You''ll Do:
- Lead day-to-day operations of the Packaging Lab, ensuring technical excellence and process efficiency
- Manage and mentor a high-performing technical team: hiring, training, development, and performance evaluation
- Oversee packaging test method development, validation, and lifecycle management
- Support new product introductions and ongoing production needs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams
- Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, and other regulatory standards
- Develop and manage departmental budgets and capital improvement plans
- Promote and enforce EHS policies and ensure timely reporting and investigation of incidents
- Drive continuous improvement in lab capabilities, equipment, and personnel
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Packaging, Mechanical, or Manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, quality, or product development
- Proven leadership in managing technical teams and delivering results
- Strong experience with packaging test methods and ASTM standards
- Familiarity with packaging equipment and supplier processes
- Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep knowledge of packaging materials, structures, and manufacturing processes
- Expertise in method validation and transfer
- Proficiency in engineering drawings, tolerances, and schematics
The base pay for this position is
$97,300.00 – $194,700.00In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
