Position Summary

This leadership role reports to the Director of Packaging Engineering and is based in Columbus, OH. You will manage the Packaging Lab’s daily operations, lead a technical team, and support packaging development, test method validation, and quality initiatives. This role requires occasional travel (10–25%), including international trips.

What You''ll Do: 

• Lead day-to-day operations of the Packaging Lab, ensuring technical excellence and process efficiency
• Manage and mentor a high-performing technical team: hiring, training, development, and performance evaluation
• Oversee packaging test method development, validation, and lifecycle management
• Support new product introductions and ongoing production needs
• Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and manufacturing teams
• Ensure compliance with FDA, GMP, and other regulatory standards
• Develop and manage departmental budgets and capital improvement plans
• Promote and enforce EHS policies and ensure timely reporting and investigation of incidents
• Drive continuous improvement in lab capabilities, equipment, and personnel

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Packaging, Mechanical, or Manufacturing or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 8 years of engineering experience in manufacturing, quality, or product development
• Proven leadership in managing technical teams and delivering results
• Strong experience with packaging test methods and ASTM standards
• Familiarity with packaging equipment and supplier processes
• Excellent communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Deep knowledge of packaging materials, structures, and manufacturing processes
• Expertise in method validation and transfer
• Proficiency in engineering drawings, tolerances, and schematics

     

The base pay for this position is

$97,300.00 – $194,700.00

In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
