About the Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office

The Chief Digital and Artificial Intelligence Office (CDAO) is a Principal Staff Assistant (PSA) responsible for the acceleration of the adoption of data, analytics, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) to generate decision advantage across the Department of Defense (DoD). The CDAO enables the Military Departments and Services, Joint Staff, Combatant Commands (CCMDs), Office of the Secretary of Defense (OSD), and other DoD Components, to swiftly introduce new capabilities and effectively experiment with new operational concepts in support of DoD's warfighting missions.

The CDAO has three broad goals of enabling, speeding, and scaling adoption of AI in the DoD. Rapid and scalable adoption of AI is a critical capability for DoD support in national security, and the AI Rapid Capabilities Cell (AIRCC) is primed to support the CDAO’s goals. The AIRCC’s role in facilitating the rapid adoption of frontier AI and autonomy will enable the CDAO’s other objectives by informing future investments into policies, partnership, and infrastructure, enabling the adoption of AI at scale throughout the department.

As Program Manager for Generative AI you will lead a critical frontier AI experimentation pilot focused on developing and integrating cutting-edge AI capabilities into DoD workflows. This role involves working closely with leading frontier AI labs and DoD operational users to prototype frontier AI capabilities and evaluate their operational effectiveness in a series of structured experiments.
