The Opportunity: Human Resources Generalist-Sales
The Human Resources Generalist (HRG) is a key, customer-focused partner supporting Utz’s human resources strategy for the Sales team. The HRG will serve as a primary HR resource for sales associates at all levels and in various locations, ensuring effective and efficient HR support. Responsibilities include facilitating training and development initiatives, driving associate engagement, managing associate relations, ensuring HR compliance, supporting performance management, supporting the administration of benefits and payroll, communicating with sales associates, and advancing the Utz safety program as it applies to remote and field-based employees. The HRG is an integral member of the HR team and collaborates closely with Sales leadership and associates nationwide to implement HR initiatives and provide consistent HR guidance across all sales regions.
*The position is based in Hanover, PA, and offers a hybrid work schedule requiring three days per week in the office.
What You’ll Do:
- Partner with Sales leadership and associates in various locations to implement and support HR initiatives that align with the company’s strategic vision.
- Maintain high visibility and serve as an accessible HR contact for remote and field-based sales associates through regular virtual check-ins and periodic in-person visits as needed.
- Act as a reliable point of contact for HR-related inquiries, clarification of policies, and guidance for all sales associates, utilizing technology for effective communication.
- Gain a thorough understanding of the responsibilities and challenges of sales roles to provide relevant HR support and contribute to business objectives.
- Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions.
- Maintain strict confidentiality in managing sensitive associate information, sharing details only on a need-to-know basis.
- Support Sales management in the consistent and equitable administration of Company policies and procedures for a geographically dispersed workforce.
- Assist Sales management in administering disciplinary actions and attendance policies, ensuring fairness and consistency across all regions.
- Manage and process unemployment claims for sales associates nationwide.
- Ensure associate personnel records for the Sales team are accurately maintained and up to date.
- Provide support for associate relations, including remote investigations and conflict resolution as appropriate.
- Process terminations and conduct exit interviews for off-site and field-based sales associates.
- Ensure timely and clear communication of company initiatives, milestones, and policy changes to all sales associates.
- Organize and coordinate virtual and in-person associate engagement events to strengthen morale and foster a sense of community among remote sales staff.
- Support additional HR employment activities as assigned, with a focus on the unique needs of a distributed Sales workforce.
- Ensure adherence to all company policies, guidelines, and procedures, including those specific to remote work and safety standards for field-based associates.
- Perform other duties as required.
What You Bring:
Experience
- 1 - 5 years of progressive Human Resources experience, preferably in a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
- Experience in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment, ideally with multi-site or national teams.
Skills
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, written, and presentation), with an emphasis on virtual communication and supporting remote teams.
- Ability to collaborate and build trust with associates and leaders across various locations and time zones.
- Proficiency in MS Office suit
