Senior Software Engineer

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the adoption, architecture and implementation of automations leveraging Microsoft technologies including Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot and other Microsoft automation and AI technologies. The Senior Software Engineer will work closely with the recently formed enterprise automation office, known as the Automation Hub, and lead the execution of Microsoft based automations utilizing both internal and external resources. They will be responsible for building expertise and training and provide mentorship for employees as the use of Microsoft automation technologies is expanded throughout Mayo Clinic.
They will provide technology leadership and work closely with other IT areas, including the Office of Information Security, to define policies and standards for utilization.
Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and implement complex automations across the Microsoft technology stack to automate business processes for various departments. Technologies will include Microsoft Power Automate, Power Apps, Copilot and other relevant tools.
- Lead and mentor engineers and business areas focused on building efficient and scalable automation solutions.
- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand their needs and translate them into effective automation solutions using Microsoft technologies.
- Develop and maintain best practices for automation development and governance for Microsoft technologies.
- Work with Mayo Clinic Office of Information Security (OIS) to ensure security policies and practices are followed as Power Automate and Power Apps are integrated to the Mayo Clinic ecosystem
- Assist with establishing standards and best practices for Power Automate citizen development.
- Stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in automation technologies and tools.
- Provide ongoing support and training to departmental users on automation solutions.
This is a full time remote position. Incumbent must live within the United States. Mayo Clinic will not sponsor or transfer visas for this position including F1 OPT STEM.
Required qualifications for this position include: Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field with 5 years of experience as noted below; OR an Associate’s degree in Computer/Science/Engineering or related field with 7 years of experience.
Have in-depth knowledge of software engineering with experience coding applications or services in a high-level language (C, C++, Golang, Java, C# etc.) and a basic knowledge of related fields.
Demonstrated problem solving and time management skills. Possesses strong technical aptitude for designing and implementing software solutions. Experience with modern application development frameworks
Knowledge of professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations. Deep hands-on technical expertise, excellent verbal and written communication skills. Experience with Agile software development techniques.
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
- Master's degree in Computer Science/Engineering or related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in automation architecture and design using Microsoft automation tools, low-code/no-code platforms, and scripting languages.
- Experience required with Microsoft Power Platform, including Power Apps and Power Automate.
- Experience and excellent understanding of Microsoft Copilot and other Gen AI tools.
- Strong knowledge of business process automation, Robotic Process Automation (RPA) technologies, low-code/no-code technologies, and scripting technologies.
- Experience in designing and architecting automation solutions for the healthcare industry will be given strong consideration
- Experience in integrating automation solutions with various systems and applications using APIs, web services, databases, etc.
- Experience working across multiple cloud and hybrid cloud environments including Microsoft Azure and Google Cloud Platform.
- Experience in documenting and maintaining the automation architecture, design, and code.
- Experience in training and mentoring automation developers, engineers and testers on the best practices and standards of automation development.
- Experience with Scrum and Agile software development.
- Evidence of strong analytical skills, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
- Evidence of strong communication, meeting management, and organizational skills and ability to adjust the message as appropriate to the audiences of varying technical capabilities.
